Cult beauty favourite Becca brought it’s Global Style Director, Kerry Cole to Melbourne last month to share her love and knowledge of Becca with beauty fans.

The brand, originally founded in Australia in the early 00’s, has become the go-to brand for highlighters and mineral based beauty products that give the ultimate glow. Available at Sephora, the range now boasts a wide range of products for your face and Kerry was excited to tell us a bit about her role at Becca and share with us some of her favourite products and tips to maximise their use.

Kerry Cole, Becca’s Global Style Director

It was really interesting to hear Kerry’s role at Becca extended to product development and she works with chemists in the labs to come up with new formulations and products.  The iterative process to develop new products takes about a year, Kerry mentioned, which involves a lot of lab time and adjustments to formulations to ensure that the product works the exact way it is intended and is the right shade. It was really insightful to hear how much effort goes into developing a new product and also excited to know the expertise that goes into bringing such amazing products to the shop shelves.

One of the things Kerry is most excited about is the collaboration between Becca and Jaclyn Hill. Some of the products coming out of that collaboration have been some of the hottest items that Becca and Sephora sell.

This includes the Champagne Pop shade of the ‘Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter‘. The bestselling shade is a soft gold with pinky peach undertone and can be used wet or dry to create the perfect glow and was created in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill. Perfect for lighting up your favourite features with high impact, ultra-reflective shine, you can use it dry or use it wet to create a deeper effect.

A top tip that Kerry gave was to use the ‘Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter‘ on areas apart from the face. Sweep along collarbones and down the centre of arms and legs with the One Perfecting Brush or as Kerry put it ‘skinny shins can be created super easy with this brush and the highlighter – you’ll be able to tell the difference with a few strokes down the front of the shins’

Another from the collaboration with Jaclyn Hill is the ‘Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection face palette’ which features Champagne Pop as well as other colours to perfect your best beauty look. A winning palette with everything you could possible need.

Another of Kerry’s must-haves is the ‘Velvet Blurring Primer’,  which she describes as the perfect primer to achieve a long-lasting and air brushed complexion. She advocated the oil free primer was still hydrating because of the formulation and the primer is a brightening and helps to diffuse light for a velvety smooth, soft focus finish.

One of the products that I love from the range is the first Becca product I ever had in my beauty kit, ‘Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter. This product has been a consistent feature in my beauty cupboard for over 15 years, as it’s a great product to use by itself to dab on the face or body to highlight, but it’s also great mixed in with foundation or moisturiser to give a bit of illumination. If you don’t have one in your kit then make sure you run down to Sephora and pick one up stat!

The wonderful thing to see is the evolution of a brand that now is more than just highlight, Becca’s range now extends to a range of bronzers, foundations and primers, all highly effective products for your beauty kit. They have also collaborated with a variety of big names including Jaclyn Hill and Chrissy Teigen to produce some amazing palettes for the face and eyes.
