GIRL MOST LIKELY – OLIVIA PALERMO COVERS NET-A-PORTER’S THE EDIT

She’s the go-to style icon for fashion obsessed women around the globe and for good reason. When it comes to putting an outfit together, no one does it better than Olivia Palermo. Nailing the knack for seamlessly pairing high street buys with designer pieces, Palermo gives the masses a chance to emulate her flawless style.

Recently in Australia with equally good looking husband, model and photographer Johannes Huebel for the launch of Chadstone’s SS14 campaign, Palermo has now added another credit to her already overflowing portfolio, covering Net-A-Porters digital magazine The Edit.

Palermo speaks about her reputation as a style icon and where she gets her fashion sense from. “My mother and grandmother are very pulled together. They never leave the house without being completely, 100% presentable and that was instilled in me at a very young age” Palermo said.

Not one to keep her style tips to herself, Palermo shares some of her favourite fashion secrets. “As you get dressed, take a look to see if anything needs to be done. I tend to go with the detailing. I have endless skinny belts. There is always a place for a big belt, but sometimes when you’re layering pieces you need to hide the belt and a skinny one does just that. Take a razor blade to a sweater if it’s bobbling – it takes the balls off. Double-sided tape is also one of my favourites. Oh, and if you want to roll your sleeves up and they won’t stay, push them up with very thin hair elastics.”

As well as inspiring fashionistas around the globe, Palermo is good for business. Co-founder of Westward Leaning, Robert Denning, spoke of Palermo’s selling power when talking about her recent collaboration with the brand. “No other person…has kind of conversion power that Olivia has. Keyword searches featuring Olivia or some derivative of her name are the only individual-specific keywords in the top tier of revenue-driving organic searches related to Westward Leading.”

Net-A-Porter can corroborate Denning’s statements with Palermo’s recent collaboration with footwear brand Aquazzura flying off their virtual shelves. Spening about the collaboration, Palermo said “I’ve known Edgardo [Osario, the brand’s designers and found] since his first collection and he’s become a great friend of mine. I only want to team up and design with people who I have a solid relationship with. there is a very small handful of shoe designers of who you can say [the shoes] are aesthetically phenomenal and fit like a glove; Manolo [Blahnik] is one of them, and Edgardo.”

As well as lending her design skills to labels, Palermo is managing her own website, a hub for all the fashion, lifestyle and beauty things she loves. With a second wedding to hubby Huebl to plan, fashion lines to promote and a site to run, we can only predict it will be an exciting year ahead for Palermo and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
