M.A.C. created a look for the ultimate ‘it girl’, the girl that goes out with an amazing outfit but her hair and makeup look effortless. Victoria Baron of M.A.C. said “We have married the glitter and grunge aspect of make-up. Glitter is normally a bit glamorous and showgirl, so we wanted to grunge it up a bit. We have used a lot of cream shadows on the eyes with a little bit of eyeliner, smudging it all out. We have then used a bit of the Lip Glass and M.A.C Glitters, which makes it easy to apply as there is no glitter flying everywhere. We have applied it to the inner corners of the eyes, and pushed it down a little bit so it has more grunge then glamour.”

“We wanted to toughen her up a little bit, because there is so much about the collection and the set that has this dreamy areal feel to it. We needed to bring it back to somewhere a little bit tough and give it a bit of a balance.” says Jenny Kim from KMS California. Each model had their own look as there was not one set style, with some models having some hairspray added and others having KMS Tame Frizz Soothing Lotion applied on ends and patted down. The focus was on the natural movement of the hair.

Nails were colourful using a metamorphic colour from the O.P.I Muppet Collection called permit me to speak. “For the majority of the girls it is applied to their natural nails as it is a very wearable colour, and this one goes pink, green and gold, depending on the light. This colour really does marry the full collection and I think it is definitely something that can be worn glamorous, or glamour-down. It is feminine with the pink undertone, but edgy with the green undertone as well,” Karon McKendrick-Taylor from O.P.I

Ixiah – Makeup by Bobbi Brown, Hair by KMS California

ixiah

Alfie Sadsad from Bobbi Brown said the inspiration for his makeup look at Ixiah was all about copper, as the colour shone through the Ixiah collection. Makeup was kept simple with an element of copper around the top of the lid in a strip using Long Wear Eye Cream Shadow in Copper. Skin was kept nude, flawless without necessarily packing on too much foundation using the Skin Foundation Stick. Cream blush was added to the cheeks to give a slight dewiness.

KMS California created a look that was simple from the front, with a plain middle part, but the back was an intricate fishtail braid.

A 70’s/80’s glam look inspired the Savoire Faire makeup look for Zhivago but the look had a modern twist. Fresh, dewy skin was the base for the look with strong brows created with texture to add to the glam look. Skin contouring on the eye and strong lashes created a dramatic eye, with a bright red lip finishing the glam look.

“It’s all about sexy hair!” says Richard Kavanagh, Redken Hair Director of his look for Zhivago show at MBFWA. “Taking inspiration from Guy Bourdin’s women and the Blade Runner movie we created a sexy shape with a nod to the 20s and late 70s, early 80s,” explains Richard Kavanagh. To get the lift and hold for the look, Richard used Fabricate 03 Heat Activate texturizer and Foreful 23 Super Strength hairspray.
