For many of us, Winter has left us with hair that is dull and dry. From split ends to dry scalps, our locks could definitely benefit from a little more nourishment, and with Spring is just around the corner it’s time to restore your hair’s natural beauty. Here are a few tips to help you switch your hair care routine from Winter to Spring and give it a lift.

RESTORE YOUR HAIR HYDRATION WITH A HAIR TREATMENT MASK

At the end of Winter, your hair has battled wind, rain and variations in temperatures and it might be dry and in need of hydration. The best way to restore the hydration in your hair is using a treatment mask as a way to help condition and nourish your hair.  A treatment masque is formulated to help give a concentrated boost of hydration and other active ingredients to treat your hair’s needs and also provide deeper conditioning and treatment. The L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise EverStrong Strengthening and Repairing mask can help repair and restore your hair’s health by deeply penetrating the hair finer to strengthen and repair, and infusing intense botanical oils to nourish the hair. Best to use at least once to twice a week (depending on how much your hair needs replenishment!) in the first few weeks as you restore your hair’s health and then once a week thereafter. It’s important to use a mask regularly to maintain soft, healthy and shiny hair.

If you have oily roots and dry ends, make sure you avoid applying the mask to the roots but instead focus on applying the treatment to the mid length of your hair and ends. You can use a wide comb tooth to help apply the mask if you have tangly hair.

GIVE IT A TRIM

You may have noticed quite a few more split ends after the cold and dry winter.  Start by snipping off those dead ends and give your locks a fresh start – your hair will look noticeably healthier. Since the weather is warming up, longer hair can make you feel a little hot and heavy. If you’re feeling daring, why not add some layers or go a little shorter? Help to prevent split ends and add in a dose of Argan Oil to your hair routine such as L’Oreal Hair Expertise’ EverSleek Precious Oil treatment. Apply 1-2 drops to damp hair ends to infuse the oil into your hair and protect against the effects of hair styling tools such as dryers and straighteners and hydrate the ends so they don’t split!

GO LIGHTER

We often associate Spring and Summer with lighter and brighter colours and often we will switch out the smoky eye for a more pastel or bronze look. So why should our hair colour be any different? If you’re not up for a full colour change, opt for some highlights or even balayage to add some brightness to your hair. Make sure that you use a specially formulated shampoo and conditioner to  maximise and lengthen the colour in your hair. The L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Pure Colour Shampoo and Conditioner range (one targeted to add moisture and one to add volume) has been formulated with anti-fading system and UV filters help hair maintain colour. The sulphate free formulation is gentler for your hair and the botanical oils of Rosemary, Mint and/or Juniper will help hydrate and nourish hair to return the balance after colour treatment.

 TAME THE FRIZZ

If you find that the warmer weather leaves your hair looking a little like that time Monica went to Barbados, try adding a shine spray or a leave in conditioner to smooth down and nourish the hair. L’Oreal Paris’ Hair Expertise SuperSleek Smooth Blow-dry Mist is a luscious non-greasy spray that will help tame the locks, deeply hydrate dry hair and keep it tangle free. The mist has an active heat shield that protect hair from temperatures up to 180C and helps with hair styling. It’s great to prevent heat damage, especially now that we’re in Spring and there are a lot more parties and Spring racing is only around the corner!
