Dewy makeup is not always an easy task. Sometimes overlooking the glow may land you in the grease. This can happen if you’re not equipped with the right products and techniques. Thanks to VAMFF’s Internationally acclaimed Makeup Director Rae Morris, we went backstage and learnt that dewy skin is a hop, skin and a brush away.

“Harpers Bazaar is just such an icon, modern and beautiful space. We have to keep the fashion forward thinking ahead and make it look extreme,” said Morris.

“It’s about the glossiest skin, beyond dewy and basically wet. Their eyelids will look like a mirror that’s how shiny we want to go. SHINE SHINE SHINE!

Follow these steps to recreate the look at home

Step 1: Apply a light coverage of dewy foundation such as Revlon ColorStay 2 in 1 Compact Makeup and Concealer to balance skin tone.

Step 2: Cover any darkness around the inner eye with a light application of concealer and then apply paw-paw to the eyelid.

Step 3: Curl lashes with Revlon Eyelash Curler and apply a light coat of Revlon Ultimate All in 1 Mascara to the top and bottom lashes

Step 4: Brush and full brows with Revlon Brow Fantasy for a soft full shape

Step 5: Finish with a signature bold red lip. Use Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Really Red 006, ensuring the lines are clean and balanced.
TIP: While backstage, we noticed the makeup artists using a lip brush to apply the lipstick with precision and cover any imperfections with concealer.

HAIR BY KENNETH STODDART SUPPORTED BY SCHWARZKOPF

Creating the perfect hair look for woman on-the-go, Kenneth Stoddart and his team of professionals put a whole new twist on knots.

“Harpers is a wet looking tight knot in the back and we are using dry oil in the hair and raking it back with our fingers for extra definition and texture,” said Stoddart.

“It’s really effortless, straight off the beach, get your hair and scrape it back, tie it into a knot and off you go kind of look.”

Recreate the look at home by prepping your hair with Schwarzkopf Extra Care Strong Styling Mousse Maximum Hold and blowdry. Working in sections from the bottom to the top, apply a wet look gel to dry hair (Schwarzkopf Extra Care 6 Miracles Oil Essence was used) and comb each section through and onto the previous section until you reach the front hairline. When complete, secure an elastic at the nape. Twist your ponytail in one direction until taught and then wrap it around the base to form a knot or bun. Secure with pins and pull out strands from the bottom for an edgy look. Finish with Schwarzkopf Extra Care Super Styling Lacquer Extreme Hold for that extra wet glam.
