Chadstone has launched a collaboration with UPPAREL – a clothing reuse, repurpose, and recycling program that provides unwanted items with a second life to help close the loop on textile waste. In centre until Wednesday 30 April, The Fashion Capital will host an activation site where visitors are invited to donate an unwanted item to receive gifts/prizes.
Chadstone’s partnership with UPPAREL encourages conscious consumerism; they understand requirements change (sizes, seasons, personal style!) so the need for new clothes will never cease, we can however mitigate our moments of materialism by ensuring we’re donating unwanted items to put them to good use. Chadstone expects to divert up to 4,600 items from landfill, equating to 2,500kg of unwanted garments. This will prevent around 8750kg of emissions being released into the atmosphere.
The start of winter is a great time to have a little clean out – our unwanted jumpers and outwear are desperately needed by many of UPPAREL’s charity partners who will find them new homes with families that need them most in the cooler months. Approximately 300 million kgs of clothing (about 43 items per person) is discarded each year – so next time you pop into Chaddy consider adopting the one-in-one-out approach to re-home or repurpose an old item from the back of your wardrobe that may be better used elsewhere.

Donate a pre-loved garment to win a retailer prize valued at $20 or more OR Donate a pre-loved garment and spend $200 in one day at participating retailers for your chance to WIN one of our amazing prizes including a Hotel Chadstone stay, Valet Parking, Chadstone Gift Card or Personal Styling session.
Simply present your garment and original receipt/s (if applicable) at the redemption desk outside David Jones on the Lower Ground Level and become a Chadstone First Member by Tuesday, 30 April. You can then spin an interactive conveyor belt for your chance to win a prize while stocks last.
