THE WINTER VILLAGE ARRIVES AT FEDERATION SQUARE

Something special is about to land on one of Melbourne’s largest rooftops. The Australian Venue Co’s ‘The Winter Village’ makes its debut this May, through to the end of August, with the Skyline Terrace at Federation Square being reimagined into a euro-style winter wonderland in the sky. Surrounded by snow-covered pine trees and offering stunning views overlooking the city skyline, the event has all the makings of becoming Melbourne’s newest landmark destination.

Set to be the social event of the season, The Winter Village is serving up the perfect combination of family friendly and after-dark activities. From families, to couples, to groups of friends and colleagues, this is your place to play – and the season program of events won’t disappoint.

The Winter Village will be equipped with an ice skating rink, a cozy igloo village, a larger-than-life mega igloo where it snows on the hour, a Feast kitchen and Sip bar. Melbournians can look forward to specialty winter themed food and beverage menus, pop-up bars, after-dark activations with local Melbourne DJs, competitions, and private igloo experiences fit for an eskimo.

Launching Friday May 3, The Winter Village has free entry and will be open 7 days a week from 12pm Monday – Thursday and 11am Friday – Sunday. Bookings for private igloos now available. The full event program will be released in the coming weeks.

YARRA EDGE’S PROGRESSIVE MARATHON

Melbourne’s most unique marathon is set to return to Melbourne, and there’s no need to be a professional athlete to make it across the finish line. Leading property group Mirvac has just opened entries for the Yarra’s Edge Progressive Marathon, now in its second consecutive year. Melburnians are invited to complete 42.2 kilometres at their own pace, from 4 to 18 May, in order to raise awareness and funds for independent breast cancer charity, Think Pink Foundation. Whether
participants choose to stroll or sprint during the two week period, Melbourne’s only progressive marathon, and its most inclusive, encourages participants to reach the distance at their own pace.

To mark the end of the marathon, participants can cross the finish line at a celebratory event at Yarra’s Edge on 18 May – the perfect way to commemorate the achievements of those involved.

Mirvac General Manager of Residential Victoria, Elysa Anderson, said, “Wellbeing is important to Mirvac and is emphasised in all our communities with dedicated wellness facilities to promote a healthy lifestyle for residents. Mirvac has been working with Think Pink since it’s inception over eight years ago, assisting over 3,000 women who have accessed Think Pink’s services.”

Not only is the Yarra’s Edge Progressive Marathon a great opportunity to promote health and fitness, it supports an important cause. All funds raised through the marathon’s $25 registration fee, as well as any further donations, will go towards Think Pink, which provides professional and caring holistic support to patients, their families and carers at any stage of their journey with breast cancer.

Prizes are on offer to this year’s participants for accomplishments including most money raised, first to complete the marathon and ‘best on ground’, with the major prize of an incredible ‘Day on the Bay’ cruise for 6 people provided by the Pleasure Cruising Club Docklands.

Participants can complete the Yarra’s Edge Progressive Marathon by logging their kilometres using the free fitness tracking app, Strava from 4 to 18 May. To register or find out more, visit www.yepm.mirvac.com.
