With one of the most anticipated shows of MBFWA, Toni Maticevski’s ready-to-wear collection, did not disappoint.  The sultry voice of Lana Del Rey set a haunting tone for the show. Models walked the runway with dramatic eyebrows and eyeliner, with hair styled into high buns with a center part down the middle of the back.

Taking the peplum trend to another level with delicate embellishments, brocade detailing and waist cinching jackets, Maticevski said the collection was about “mixing textures and creating new shapes.”

Starting with a neutral palette, gradually working delicate embellishments, splashes of chartreuse and classic black into the mix, Maticevski’s collection was the epitome of lady-like glamour.

The vampy silhouettes emphasised by fitted pencil skirts and bold shoulders were inspired by Hollywood bombshells Ava Gardener and Elizabeth Taylor.

Maticevski said this collection was risky as it was not as pretty as his usual range, but his risk has well and truly paid off, with his unique ability to fashion beauty out of simplicity creating a collection which will be in many women’s wardrobes for years to come.
