Just because we’re in lockdown doesn’t mean you can’t spoil your special ones this Father’s Day. So many of Melbourne’s favourite eateries have some fabulous offerings to help celebrate the day and we’ve rounded up a few to give you some inspo for Father’s day.

 

Rare Hare at Home from Jackalope Hotel

While road trips to the Peninsula are on pause, Jackalope Hotel is bringing the best of the region’s food and wine to Melbourne, with Rare Hare ready-made meals delivered to your door. Designed to heat and eat, Father’s Day weekend showcases a range of delicious dishes to select from and they’re giving customers the opportunity to add in kids meals and a breakfast menu to serve on Sunday morning… perfect for dad’s breakfast in bed.

Orders need to be placed by midday Wednesday 2 September for Peninsula-wide delivery and metro-Melbourne delivery (Fridays and Saturdays). Rare Hare has also partnered with Black Star Pastry – its St Kilda store will also serve as a Saturday pick up point and you can also select its famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake for dessert.

Tipico

Celebrate ‘Festa del Papa’ the Italian way with Tipico’s family packs created by Head Chef Daniele Colombo. Each pack includes a selection of cured meats, eggplant parmigiana, cavoletti, braised ossobuco, and tiramisu with reheating and preparation instructions. Available in two sizes, the couples pack is $95 and the family pack feeds a family of four for $170. There is also a $10 kids option which includes gnocchi pomodoro and chocolate mousse. If you’re looking for a last-minute gift idea, add a Negroni for $20 or a Truffle-infused Belvedere Martini for $25.

Windsor’s favourite Vietnamese restaurant Firebird has teamed up with Melbourne-made whisky brand Starward to create a Father’s Day feast championing duck and whisky, available exclusively through Providoor. The set menu features six duck dishes, a curated dessert made with Starward whisky and dark chocolate, and a 500ml bottle of Starward’s (New) Old Fashioned. Rich, juicy and tender, Firebird’s duck dishes pair perfectly with Starward’s neatly sweet cocktail.

Daughter In Law

Fathers and families are invited to enjoy an ‘unauthentic’ Father’s Day this year with Daughter In Law’s Indian set menu. The banquet begins with Indian street food (papadi chaat and Colonel Tso’s cauliflower), followed by tandoori chicken and lamb ribs cummin dukkah from the tandoor, and ending with two curries: short rib korma and Jessi Singh’s famous ‘unauthentic’ butter chicken, served with rice, raita and two nann. Delivered cooked but cold, ready to heat and eat, Daughter In Law’s Father’s Day menu feeds two ($100 ) and is complete with a one-litre growler of Stone and Wood’s Pacific Ale. Vegan and vegetarian options available.

Pick-up/delivery details: Delivery is free for those within a 7km radius of Daughter In Law, and $15 for those further, up to 20km. Deliveries will be made untll 5:00pm 5 September, with icepacks used to keep the food cold overnight.

Rustica Sourdough

Melbourne’s much-loved bakery Rustica invites carb-loving dads to start the day with freshly baked goods with the Father’s Day Breakfast Box. For the ultimate breakfast in bed, the Father’s Day Breakfast Box features bagels, casalinga sourdough, six eggs, kaiserfleisch (thick-cut bacon), chorizo, avocado, house-made chutney, croissants, donuts and First Love Coffee. Add in Prosecco or a Bloody Mary for decadent Dads, or skip breaky and go for the Father’s Day Grazing Box or Father’s Day Pastry Box. With a range of specialty breads, pastries, pantry items and wines available for individual purchase and free delivery on orders of $25 or more within a 10k radius of Melbourne CBD, Rustica has made Father’s Day easy.

Grosvenor Hotel

Offering an incredibly generous three-course menu, spoil Dad with shared entrée, mains, sides and dessert ($150 will serve two with potential leftovers for later). There’s also a three-course option for kids under 12, featuring classic kid-friendly favourites with popcorn chicken, lasagne and dessert for
just $20 per child. Kick off the three-course feast fit for a king with a Grosvenor Tasting Board, complete with freshly sliced wagyu bresaola, San Daniele prosciutto, Capocollo, Finocchiona salami, Calabrese salami, 24-month aged parmesan, smoked scamorza, bocconcini and mixed Sicilian olives served with wood fired house-baked rosemary and sea salt focaccia.

While Dad’s indulging in the flavours of Italy during entrée, you have ample time to put together the succulent Beef Wellington for mains. Plate up like a professional with cauliflower puree, duck liver parfait and a drizzling of porcini jus, and serve with a side of chargrilled broccolini and bitter leaf salad to complete your meal. The meal has an easy to follow step-by-step recipe card for every delivery, and will include a temperature probe, so that you can cook your beef to perfection. Dessert will include a saucy rich chocolate pudding and ice cream finished with a tarty rhubarb jam and crunchy hazelnut praline.

Designed to be prepared at home, treat the old man to a special Father‘s Day Make Me Feed Me pack with Chin Chin favourites including roasted chicken wings, turmeric & garlic roasted prawns shiso salad, smoked brisket, sides of roasted eggplant, roasted pumpkin, cucumbers and don’t forget Chin Chin’s famous hot apple pie for dessert.
