Myer launched its A/W16 collection with an intimate dinner and runway show at The Cutaway within Sydney’s new Barangaroo Reserve. With a stunning backdrop of cutaway stone wall and a long runway, the show featured a beautiful array of fashion and showcased what is hot this new season. Featuring pieces from some of Australia’s best designers including Maticevski, White Suede and Yeojin Bae as well as International designers such as Self Portrait and Balmain, the runway show was a plethora of colours and styles.

Creating the beauty looks behind the show were KEVIN.MURPHY and Makeup genius Napoleon PerdisWe chatted with the brands behind the beauty look to get the low down on how the look was created for Myer’s A/W16 launch.

HAIR BY KEVIN.MURPHY

The hair look is inspired by American actress and fashion designer Chloe Sevigny and her signature wet look with a dry ponytail pulled back at the nape. KEVIN.MURPHY collaborated with Headlines Australia and their hair extensions, Wefts On The Run, to deliver ponytails that are uniform in thickness and length and to play with the hair colour trend of contrasting hair colours.

“Headpieces, headwear and jewellery embellishments have been incorporated into the launch so the hair needs to be chic and simple to ensure balance. It’s important that the hair doesn’t look too complicated or intrusive on the fashion,” said Murphy.

To create the look, KEVIN.MURPHY Session.Master James Nicholson was at the helm accompanied by a team of Session.Stylists at the launch. Using a few easy steps, the look can be created at home.

When hair is dry, apply KEVIN.MURPHY HAIR.RESORT.LOTION (rrp $34.95) in two inch sections to the roots and mid-lengths keeping it flat to the scalp. Comb through with a fine tooth comb and create a ponytail that sits at the nape. Secure with a hair tie. To finish use KEVIN.MURPHY SESSION.SPRAY (rrp $32.95) for added control and shine.
