Calling all lovers! Valentines day is only a few days away and we’ve got some suggestions to make your V-day memorable.

Enjoy a beautiful meal at home and pair it with a wonderful wine

Staying at home is a nice way to enjoy a more relaxed Valentines day. You can definitely say I love you with a meal at home (cooked by yourself or even takeaway) and pair it with the perfect wine. Our friends at Vinomofo have selected a few of their favourite wines to pair with your meal:

Oysters – a Valentine’s Day staple, the aphrodisiac to serve up on the official day of love, and it goes perfectly with a light, dry sparkling blanc de blanc like Steven Webber from De Bortoli’s Bisou Bisou (rrp $15). The light, crisp nature of the sparkling pairs well with the salty, buttery flavour of the oysters.
Soft cheese – the makings of dreams, right? Pair your triple cream brie and prosciutto on the old cheese board with a clean, buttery style Chardonnay such as Mimi Flamingo, from Oakridge Wines (rrp $30). The creamy buttery nature nurtures the soft, milky texture and flavour profile of the cheese – it will leave good vibes in your mouth, and good vibes all round.
Ragu – now, we all know there is somethin’ a little special about a ‘Lady & The Tramp’ spaghetti & meatball moment, but the same can be said about a great tagliatelle with ragu. Pair this rich dish with a GSM such as The Orgy from Hither & Yon (rrp $15), the wine making brothers from Zeask Bros.
Peking Duck Pancakes – alright, so this may not be your traditional romantic meal, but we’re a bunch of foodies who love a good Asian fusion. Pair this dream of a pancake with a cool climate pinot noir, such as The Don (rrp $30) from Andrew Santarossa from Fratelli wines.

Room For Dessert

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, QT Melbourne has designed one of Melbourne’s most expensive desserts for couples to enjoy. ‘Room for Dessert’ is a decadent dessert option; a specially designed sweet treat for two that’s served with a twist – a room key.

Designed by QT Melbourne’s Pastry Chef, Youssef Aderdour, (trained under Alain Ducasse), the $300 dessert is an almond-pistachio madeleine biscuit with wild strawberry marmalade delicately presented on a pillow of Valrhona white chocolate, vanilla buttermilk mousse and crowned with a gift from the Swarovski Crystal Wishes Collection.

The room key unlocks one of QT Melbourne’s ever-enticing doors, with a luxe king-size bed and a bottle of Perrier Jouët on arrival. Complete decadence for two.
