Crowds are expected to gather at The Glen in Melbourne’s south-east this Thursday 1 August, to celebrate the official opening of the final major stage of the centre’s $430 million redevelopment, with a new indoor-outdoor dining precinct, a two-storey new-format, and 50 new fashion and lifestyle stores to
be unveiled.

Ringing in celebrations will be fashionista Nadia Bartel who will cut the ribbon for David Jones, Sydney style and digital entrepreneur, Elle Ferguson, appearing at Mazzacchelli’s jewellery, and ‘Champagne Dame’ Kyla Kirkpatrick, whose Emperor Champagne brand will offer customers fine French bubbles from a pop-up bar outside David Jones and a champagne truck in the new dining precinct.

Creating a visual spectacle and possible pandemonium amongst fanatics of Tik Tok (a short-form social media video app for sharing lip-sync and other videos) will be top ‘Tik Tokkers’, Ricky Chainz, Caleb Finn and Rory Eliza, doing a meet and greet with fans in front of a big screen, as part of new retailer Superdry’s Australian-first partnership with Tik Tok.

Also expected to draw excited customers is cult Korean beauty brand Innisfree, launching its first store at The Glen with highly-anticipated product packs for the first 500 through the door, while customers looking for a more relaxed experience will enjoy live entertainment, DJs spinning tunes, free eclairs from Cru+ and plenty of other treats and exclusive retail offers as celebrations continue throughout opening weekend.

Beginning construction in 2017, The Glen’s transformation and expansion now sees the centre span a total of 78,000 square metres of gross lettable area with more than 250 retailers in fashion, fresh food, beauty, lifestyle and dining. The dynamic new mix of retailers includes international brands Innisfree, Swarovski, Superdry and FILA which stand alongside renowned Australian big-name retailers David Jones, Decjuba, Seed, Cotton On Mega and Kikki.K.

The vibrant new open-air dining precinct features more than 10 new restaurants including many cult food brands which are opening in a shopping centre or outside Melbourne’s inner city for the first time, including Chef Jerry Mai’s Bia Hoi, Tina’s Noodles, of Dainty Sichuan fame and iconic Noosa brand Betty’s Burgers and Concrete.
