Couturing attended the launch of new Sichuan restaurant SHU. Founded by chef and restauranter Shu Liu, SHU promises to set a new standard in modern dining. With recipes passed down from Liu’s mother, organic/free range ingredients are used where possible to provide the highest quality food. Applying a modern approach towards provincial Chinese cooking, SHU offers guests a unique dining experience.

The industrial interior is fitted out with stainless steel tables, clear plastic chairs, an installation made out of coat hangers and touches of red. Guests were packed into the modern space and treated to delicious sample of SHU’s menu. Oysters with a twist of apple and black lumpfish caviar and King George whiting sashimi with a mandarin, cinnamon and citrus dressing were some of the highlights.

With the recent launch of Melbourne based label, Tsen, held at the restaurant, it’s not only a great place for small group dining, but events as well.

If you are looking for a new restaurant to try or are simply in the mood for some amazing food, make sure you visit SHU at 147 Johnston Street, Collingwood, 9090 7878. Check out the menu here.
