When you hear the word bodysuit, it’s easy to cringe. I know my mind conjures up images of Olivia Newton John in a delightful lycra number, stretching her limbs to Let’s Get Physical. Well thanks to Kim Kardashian, post Kanye style makeover, the body suit has been made cool again. Let’s face it, who didn’t go crazy when Kim rocked a plunging black bodysuit on her recent trip to Melbourne.

Love her or hate her, you can’t argue that since Kanye, Kim has stepped it up in the style game. While she still favours clothes that cling to her ‘kurves’, she is working them in a classy way. Think clean, modern colours, black, white, khaki and nude, in fitted silhouettes. One wardrobe staple Kim has embraced, is the humble body suit. Whether she uses it to emphasise her more than ample bust, or to create a streamline silhouette, you can’t fault her look. While some may argue that tucking a top in will give the same effect, it’s easier to create a creaseless look with a bodysuit, with the added bonus that you won’t have to worry about it riding up as your walk.

So how can you work the bodysuit to your advantage? If you prefer a more conservative style, opt for a long sleeve bodysuit with a voluminous sleeves. You can also try a halterneck style which is also flattering while covering up your chest. If you want something a little more dramatic, try a floral print which is great for pairing with a classic black or white skirt. If you are after something a little more daring, a scalloped edge, bustier style top will add a playful but classy vibe to an outfit, while a plunging white number will certainly ensure all eyes are on you. If you want to channel your inner Kim, then a lowcut black or grey number will certainly have heads turning, however, it’s best paired with a maxi skirt to balance out the look.
