Monday morning celebrated the official L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Program Briefing, a time for all of the fashion conscious to unite and start penciling in those dates. Partnering with David Jones, the festival welcomed a wide array of exciting ventures that will take place this year.

Highlights included the announcement of Mary Katrantzou attending the festival this year as a special guest. Renown for her cutting-edge digital print designs and innovative shapes, Katrantzou has already been labelled a “breakthrough” designer of recent seasons. First debuting in London Fashion Week 2009, her luxurious graphic designs have caught the eyes of those who stand in the high ranks of fashion since.

Katrantzou will be attending the Opening Night, presented by David Jones and supported by Vogue on Tuesday 19th of March. Another highlight of the festival, the LMFF Opening Night will host David Jones Ambassador Samantha Harris, and international models Montana Cox and Jessica Gomes who will open the show in Katrantzou’s spectacular new collection.

A gold-class lineup of designers including Dion Lee, Colette Dinnigan, Ellery, Lisa Ho and Rachel Gilbert will also be celebrated on the coveted runway through two different shows during the Opening Night. The event of a season, this is an opening you don’t want to miss.

The LMFF Cultural Program is always something to look forward to as well, with this year’s program boasting a diverse and creative lineup of events such as the Fashion Film Series, Offsite Runway Series, and even a Fashion Illustration Masterclass with leading fashion illustrator, Bil Donovan.

Other highlights included the announcement of LMFF’s new partner for their Red Carpet Runway, Harper’s BAZAAR Brides. Setting the benchmark for Australia’s runways, showcasing are premium, sophisticated collections of ‘breathtaking bespoke gowns and formal attire’.

Festival Chief Exceutive officer, Graeme Lewsey expands on this exciting move for the festival.

“This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the finest couture pieces from Australia’s leading designers on a world class runway. This is the first group couture show of this kind and is an exciting new market for the Festival to reach.”

With a spectacular range of events and activities, this year’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival offers  an even better, even bigger month than last year. We can’t wait to see what else might be in store!
