Mother’s Day is this Sunday and that doesn’t leave a lot of time to a) figure out what to get your mum and b) where to get it because of the stay at home situation.  It’s likely too late to order anything online as the postal service is taking longer than usual and not guaranteeing express post, so best not to risk it! Don’t worry though, I’ve put together a list of last minute gift ideas and store suggestions to help you find the perfect gift for your mum.

TARGET

Target Australia has launched its curated collection of thoughtful Mother’s Day gifts including affordable and quality sleep and leisurewear, bath and beauty essentials and homewares making for the perfect presents to treat mum this Mother’s Day…. Even if you can’t celebrate together in person.

Let mum indulge in a perfect moment of pampering with restorative beauty rituals, spoil her with comfort must haves, including supersoft knitwear and luxurious leisurewear, or create a sanctuary within the home with high quality homewares.

Top picks include the Cotton Poplin Pyjama Set in a floral print ($30), Shiraz Slipper Scuffs Gift Pack ($20) as shown above, Long dressing gown ($39) or a Preview Printed Square floral scarf ($25)

Target’s range of Mother’s Day gifts is now available in Target stores nationally and online at target.com.au for contactless click and collect. Please check on the website for stores that are open.

DYSON

If I was a mum I would want a Dyson for Mother’s Day> In fact just as a person I want a Dyson. What kind of Dyson you ask? Well if it were me, all of them but that would take at least a month’s salary so let’s settle for one of the amazing products from range. The brand has just released the new Dyson V11 cord free vacuum cleaner (rrp $1199) which boasts at least 60 minutes of vacuuming time and easy handling. The epitome of vacuuming in one easy to use machine which would definitely reduce the amount of effort mum might exert in cleaning (or encourage other members of the family to help clean!)

My other pick is the limited edition Supersonic Fushia hair dryer set with bonus comb and brush (rrp $549). The hair dryer is an amazing product that dries your hair perfectly with regulated temperature and air velocity. The limited edition pink dryer is to die for, plus you essentially get the comb and brush for free as part of the set.

You can pick these Dyson products at select David Jones or Myer (through click and collect) stores

LE CREUSET COOKWARE

The epitome of cast iron cooking, you can’t go wrong with a gift from Le Creuset. For the mum who loves to cook, these brilliant cookware pieces will last a lifetime and are so useful in making all sorts of dishes (some you hope you’ll get to enjoy!). The best thing is that they come in a range of beautiful colours. From the traditional signature colour of Cerise Red to a brilliant Marseilles Blue or a classic Creme colour, the pots and pans come in a range sizes that will suit any cooking. For a mum who loves to cook, a 26 or 28cm cast iron round casserole should do the trick! My pick is definitely the 28cm Casserole in Cerise Red (rrp $659).

For stockists visit www.lecreuset.com.au or you can find Le Creuset at David Jones and Myer (through Click and Collect)

NESPRESSO

For the mother who loves her coffee, a Nespresso machine is the ultimate gift. A compact and stylish machine that delivers a caffeine hit in a matter of seconds, the added benefit is that there is little to no clean-up. A win-win! From a simple Nespresso machine such as the Essenza Mini (rrp $159) that produces a delicious cup of coffee to a deluxe version of the Gran Latissima (rrp $799) with an in-built milk frother, there is a machine to fit your budget and to fit your mother’s coffee desires. The coffee pods are recyclable and there is a huge range of coffee to suit her tastes. There are also some Mother’s Day offers that are very enticing!

For stockists visit www.nespresso.com.au or you can find at David Jones and Myer (through Click and Collect)

BUNNINGS

Ok, you might not think Bunnings is the place to get your Mother’s Day gift but you’d be surprised what you can find there, especially if your mother is a green thumb. With a wonderful array of plants and pots, you could put together a plant box or herb garden for a gift. Or if she’s one to enjoy the garden but isn’t a green thumb you could pick something to decorate the garden or an outdoor set for her relaxation. If you really want to take it up a notch, you could even go to Bunnings and buy the materials to make her something. I don’t know what that is but you’d be hard pressed to not find it at Bunnings.

For click and collect and to peruse the range visit www.bunnings.com.au or visit the website to find your nearest location.

BEAUTY GIFTS

Fortunately, you have a range of options available if you visit David Jones stores or Myer via Click and Collect. All the leading beauty brands have counters in these stores and will have a range of gift sets available for Mother’s Day. I love gift sets because they’re great value and usually offer a range of products as part of the set.

If you don’t have a department store close by then you can also pop into Chemist Warehouse to peruse their range of Fragrances, cosmetics and skincare. Whilst the brands might be different, you can definitely pick up some great gift sets there as well.

FINAL NOTE

We are living in some strange times but that doesn’t mean you can’t do something special for your mum. Especially this year, the phrase “It’s the thought that counts” does have more meaning so whatever you find or do for your mum, I’m sure she’ll love it.

Don’t forget to ensure you are practicing social distancing (keep 1.5m apart from others) if you are visiting stores to purchase your Mother’s day gift.
