Simone Pérèle, one of the world’s premiere lingerie labels which celebrates women of all shapes and sizes, has once again teamed up with BGM Models and Cosmopolitan Magazine to launch its third annual Curvy Couture Model Search. This fantastic competition invites aspiring models between sizes 12C – 16E to compete for a chance to not only star in a national advertising campaign for Simone Pérèle within the pages of Cosmopolitan Magazine, but they will also win a 2 year contract with BGM Models.

This is the only model search to celebrate the female form and offer curvy models an opportunity to work with an international, luxury fashion brand sold in over 95 countries worldwide. The competition was launched in 2012 to expand the pool of size 12+ models, a size range required every season by Simone Pérèle to present the collection samples they receive from Paris (samples arrive in 12B’s and 14E’s).

The Curvy Couture competition is important to Simone Pérèle as it using models which more accurately reflects the varied, natural silhouettes of Australian women, allows for a true and authentic connection between the lingerie and the customer, and instils an inner confidence in one’s own shape.

Speaking about the collaboration, Marlene Hassett, National Product and Fitting Expert for Simone Pérèle said “As soon as we use a 14E model in our parades, we are inundated with women in our David Jones stores and boutiques who connected instantly with the shape they were seeing, and then feel confident enough to try these styles for themselves.”

Over the short two years the competition has been running for, over 500 entrants have been brave enough to celebrate their bodies. Talking about the importance of the competition, BGM Models’ Director, Darrianne Donnelly believes that this platform is an important way to highlight the importance and relevance of the ‘curvy’ model in the fashion industry. “We know that models who connect directly with the customer as the most successful from a commercial perspective, but what’s really important is the number of entrants who have been inspired to start blogs, and drive conversations in social media communities around healthy lifestyles, body acceptance and loving the skin you’re in! These are the types of role models we could be seeing in mainstream media if we shine a light on curvy models.”
