NO TIME FOR A HOLIDAY? WHY NOT TAKE A STAYCATION

During the first half of the year, the abundance of public holidays can help us make it through the seemingly never-ending work weeks. However, after the Queen’s Birthday holiday in June, the public holidays dry up quicker than the warm weather and if you don’t have any trips planned, the road to Christmas can seem painfully long.

While you might not have the time to take a long break, why not try a staycation instead. Rather than stay at home, why not spoil yourself and check into one of your cities top hotels. In Melbourne, if you are looking for unrivalled luxury, first class service and a home away from home, a stay at the Adelphi Hotel is just what you need to recharge your batteries.

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s bustling CBD, the Adelphi Hotel provide a hidden sanctuary where you can unwind from the stresses of daily life. Not only do the staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is relaxing, but the Adelphi pride themselves on little touches which make your stay just that little bit more special.

Unlike other hotels where you have to pay exorbitant prices for mini-bar goodies, everything in the Adephi mini-bar is free. That’s right, you heard me. Free. You also won’t get stung on ridiculous wifi charges as that comes free also. You are also give a complimentary drink during your stay from the bar at the Adelphi’s premier restaurant Om Nom, which you can have at your leisure in the restaurant, or delivered to your room if you are planning a night in watching any of the free movies available. That’s right, the movies are free too. Crazy I know.

adelphiFar from your typical hotel interior, the Adelphi have created a unique, modern interior, which makes it a cut above other boutique hotels. The bold designs and furnishings give the rooms a welcoming feel and the cutting edge bathroom form the perfect place to pamper yourself with the Appelles skin, hair and lifestyle products which are beautifully displayed.

Now that summer is almost here, why not relax by the rooftop pool with a good book and stock up on some much need vitamin D. Despite the rooftop overlooking the bustling Flinders Lane, you don’t feel like you are in the middle of the city. In fact, all your troubles will seem far away.

One of the best things about a staycation is that you won’t need to travel to the airport or drive for hours to get down to the coast. The Adelphi Hotel is conveniently located right near Flinders Street Station so you can catch a train into the city, or there is parking next to the hotel if you wish to drive. If the hotel isn’t fully booked out, you may also be lucky enough to get a late checkout which is great if you are looking for an uninterrupted sleep-in.

Located right near the Paris end of Collins Street, you are only a short stroll to all the luxury boutiques including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Prada. There are also plenty of shops hiding amongst Melbourne’s world famous laneways which is one of the great reasons why it’s fun to take the time to play tourist in your own city.

There is no shortage of great places to eat too. I would highly recommend indulging in a meal in the Adelphi’s top restaurant and bar Om Nom, which is currently offering an amazing degustation experience called The Kitchen Collective. The restaurant is very intimate and only seats 40 people so I would definitely recommend making a booking if you wish to eat there. As a restaurant that focuses on dessert, it’s a great choice for those with a sweet tooth. If you miss out on a spot at Om Nom, you can try Chin Chin, Supernormal or Lucy Liu’s nearby. Keep in mind only Lucy Liu’s lets you book so be prepared to wait awhile for a spot.
