Sunday November 10 will see TedX play host to US activist Ashton Applewhite, for an intimate event at the State Library.

 

In a culture where we are focused on the ‘isms’ such as racism, sexism, ageism is absolutely becoming more apparent and something people are conscious of as they easily slip into casual agesims without intent.

Applewhite, author of ‘This Chair Rocks – A Manifesto Against Ageism’ is a leading voice in the movement against ageism around the globe and will be speaking to the topic ‘The Age of ISMs’ as part of TedX Melbourne.

Applewhite is passionate and a true advocate within the global movement to eradicate ageism in the modern society, having spoken publicly at venues ranging from universities to the TED mainstage and the United Nations. She has also written for the likes of the Guardian, the New York Times and Harper’s.
