Five years in the making, the inaugural SUPERGRAPH launched in Melbourne with Australia’s newest Contemporary Graphic Art Fair taking place at the beautiful The Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton.

The opening night took place on Valentine’s Day with hundreds of visitors attending the fair for what was an energetic event. Crowds were eager to show their appreciation for the artists and their works, with many falling in love with an artwork and purchasing numerous items on site.

The spectacular three day Contemporary Graphic Art event created a new experience and opportunity for artists as well  as art lovers. Attendees browsed the full range of artworks available at the three exhibition sections, The Salon; consisting of limited edition, unframed artworks exclusive to SUPERGRAPH, Supergraph Picks; a curated section of framed artworks with varying price points and Supergraph Booths; where artists and designers created and sold works in their pop up studio spaces. Attendees browsed the range of original and limited edition artworks that were all available to purchase, with the starting price being an incredibly affordable $30 for most pieces.

SUPERGRAPH proved it was more than just an art fair, with a significant amount of attendees participating in the full range of activities on offer. Available throughout the weekend, activities included The Mass Drawing Table, which encouraged visitors to pick up a pen and channel their creativity into a work of art. Visitors also participated in Superplates and the So You Think You Can Draw activities, where groups competed against each other in the ultimate drawing competition.

Masterclasses held by The Jacky Winter Group were another highlight of SUPERGRAPH with a key selection of artists represented by The Jacky Winter Group, such as Tin&Ed, Kelly Thompson, Jeremy and Mimi Lueng, providing exclusive workshops and drawing lessons to fans and amateurs alike.

Ticket holders to SUPERGRAPH enjoyed an array of beverages available at the Art Fair, including Rekorderlig Cider, Sol Beer, Two Italian Boys and PIMMS, and sampled delicious snacks provided by Foodtrucks located in the outdoor area of The Royal Exhibition Building. Indian Summer ensured everyone was strutting their stuff on Saturday night, playing tunes that could be heard throughout the building.

SUPERGRAPH is an incredible new and unique graphic art destination, supporting new and emerging talent and providing attendees with the opportunity to purchase art at an affordable price. SUPERGRAPH will be returning in 2015 and looks forward to another year of bright, unique and affordable contemporary art.
