Located in the heart of Melbourne’s bustling CBD, Mister Munro is redefining the art of dining. From the minute you walk into the beautifully designed Art Deco inspired interior, you know it’s going to be a special experience. Inspired by James Munro, former Premier of Victoria and the founder of the Victoria Coffee Palace which is the original site, Mister Munro pays tribute to the hospitality the building has become known for since 1880.

The modern Australian menu is a lesson in fine dining without an exorbitant price point. Ingredients are a big focus in the Mister Munro kitchen, with a leaning towards sourcing locally grown produce, and stocking Victorian produced beverages. This dedication to only using the freshest ingredients, means the flavours really shine.

The restaurant is open from 6:30am to 11pm every day, so you are covered for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highlights from the breakfast menu include a brown rice morning bowl, and baked eggs with mushrooms and asparagus in a slow-cooked tomato sauce. Dinnertime hero dishes include the Victorian rainbow trout seasoned with garlic butter, capers and shaved fennel and pistachio-crusted Millawarra lamb rack accompanied by mouthwater sweet potato fries.

If you are in the mood for drinks, an all-day grazing menu is a great supporting act, with bites like tempura salt and vinegar haloumi fries, a locally sourced charcuterie platter and beetroot carpaccio paired with orange, goats cheese and candied walnuts, providing the perfect accompaniment to the delicious beverages on offer.

Despite being originally a dry venue, the bar is now well stocked and has something for every taste. An Australian focused wine list, a great selection of craft beers and almost every spirit you can think of, make this the perfect venue for after work drinks or a pre-theatre stop.

As well as the food being first class, the hospitality is second to none. The staff are attentive without being overbearing and are always on hand to provide menu suggestions or information about the origins of the fresh produce.

The venue is also home to two elegant private dining rooms which can double as a stunning corporate meeting room or the perfect venue for a special celebration.

With its world-class offering, and focus on celebrating the best Australia has to offer, Mister Munro is set to become a Melbourne dining institution.
