ELEVEN Australia Hair Director Joey Scandizzo believes texture is key to any hairstyle. “Summer hair is really textured and lived in, not like beach hair, more like ‘mad max’ inspired thatchy textures you can play around with, heavy fringes and grown out colours,” says Joey.

Australian Hair Fashion Awards South Australian Hairdresser of the Year Kristy Hodgson takes inspiration from a classic topknot with a twist. “The youthful Half up top knot jumped straight off the catwalk and on to the street, the shape is contemporary fun and sexy and so easy to achieve at home perfect for that second day hair with a lived in texture,” says Kristy.

Step 1: Be sure to maintain the natural textures in the hair and gently enhance by building more body with Redken Rootful 06 spray to dry hair. TIP – Work the product in with your hands to achieve that enviable natural, beach hair texture.

Step 2: As the hair dries, spritz Redken Fashion Waves 07. This superstar texturising sea spray offers light texture and will prevent the hair from getting too soft.

Step 3: Begin pulling the hair back at the sides of the head using your hands and gather the hair low and begin a twist at the nape of the neck, twisting hair around once, use hair pins to secure at the nape of the neck.

Step 4: Leave ends free to fall naturally and pull wisps of hair from the front to frame the face.

Step 5: Finish the look with Redken Fashion Work 12 versatile working hairspray for lasting, soft hold.

This soft boho-chic look is easy to recreate and is sure to please a crowd. Add your own flair and have fun with the look!

Bob hairstyles are making one huge comeback for 2015, with some of our favourite stars daring to bare the blunt chop. Take style inspiration from the chic look, which can be styled in countless different ways. With a huge A-list following, here’s what the experts had to say.

“This cut allows the look to be styled wavy or straight… after working on many of the international shows this summer season, I can tell you that the definitive mood was all about the movement,” says Jon.

“Definitely shorter hair, hair that looks grown out, like you had it cut 3 weeks ago and use your natural texture so shapes look lived in,” says Kevin.

“The Bingle Bob is still huge Beyoncé did it Lauren Conrad too but guests are still asking if they think the Bingle Bob will suit them the short Bob is hot at the moment especially with a low part and one side tucked,” says Kristy.

Whether you want a whole new look or just a slight update, the experts recommend a change in colour. “Be daring, try a fierce ginger or intense red”, but for those low maintenance, “work with your natural base and ask your stylist to create a personalised hue to lighten and warm up your locks with free hand and balayage techniques,” says Kristy.

Colour blur is the latest colour technique to rock this summer. Redken Color Blur, a revolutionary technique that uses a specialised ‘blur brush’, allows hairdressers to create a unique blending effect. The REDKEN Blur Brush distributes formulas evenly, producing a gentle transition from one shade to the next. The blending of two colours in this way creates a third, multi-tonal colour with incredible dimension for endless allure.

“Whether you’re blonde, red or brunette, your professional Redken colourist can now add some excitement to your colour by blurring highlights in an array of colours and shades, from subtle to dramatic,” says Jon.
