Melbourne’s wintery Wednesday nights are about to get warmer with the return of the iconic Queen Victoria Market’s, Winter Night Market, every Wednesday from 7 June – 30 August 2017.
This year’s theme is ‘Fire and Lights’ and the Queen Vic Market is celebrating with an exciting new lighting concept and this year will see the raging open fires, quirky entertainment, live music, 50 speciality and design stalls and 30 global food traders. Enhancing the Night Market’s visitors experience, Queen Vic Market has teamed up with John Fish to create light installations that will embody the theme – large glowing neon lights and walls of hazy red smoke will greet market-goers upon arrival and the main hall will be illuminated with stunningly bright linear light beams.
Whilst getting lost among the beaming lights, visitors can also explore a world of winter cuisine with 30 global food traders serving up heart-warming dishes and drinks.
For the first time in the Night Market’s history, MoVida’s Paco’s Tacos will be dishing up their famous Mexican street-style tacos along with char-grilled corn on the cob. If tacos aren’t your thing, Those Girls will be warming up market-goers bellies with Hollywood’s latest health food trend, Bone Broth.
For those who’d prefer to indulge, there will be plenty of heart-warming dishes to please all market- goers. That’s Amore Cheese are creating a tasty new polenta dish along with their famous pasta’s tossed in a Parmigiano Wheel. The Fondue Corner will be taking us to the Austrian Alps with its famous cheeses; Savoyarde and Raclette Fondue.
To tempt all of the sweet-tooths, Churro Kitchen are offering deliciously naughty churro bowls and gooey marshmallow hot chocolates. Butterlake are also back, alluring market-goers with their decadent Taiwanese pancakes. It wouldn’t be a Winter Night Market without its famous mulled wine from ReWine.
A curated line-up of 50 specialty and design traders will also be sharing their wares to round off a perfect Night Market experience. Upcycled gas bottles lovingly transformed into fruit bowls and planters from Lil Gas Urban Bowls and handmade concrete pots for succulents and cacti from Wajacreations are among the new exciting line-up of local artisan designers starring at the Market.
Championing diversity and providing a unique opportunity to enjoy midweeks during the cooler months, the Winter Night Market is sure to again be a regular for those Melburnians looking for a place to escape the cold and cosy-up among the fire and lights.
