This season’s hottest lip trends can be found at Mecca Cosmetica’s beauty express workshops.

This season is all about bright pops of colour on the lips: think bold, bright, neon colours.

These are three tips to keep in mind when going for a bold lip colour:

#1: Keep everything else simple

#2: Use concealer for flawless skin

#3: Go for classic understated eyes. The focus should be on your gorgeous pout.

Hot colours this spring are tangerine oranges, hot pink and fuchsia. To intensify colour, line the lips with a pencil and swipe a similar coloured gloss over the lipstick, which also gives an irresistible shine. For perfect lips subtly round out your upper lip around the Cupid’s bow with a lip pencil for an iconic, heart-shaped pout.

To downplay bright punchy colours, use matte lipsticks, ensuring that lips are free from flaky skin. For a longer lasting product, place a single ply of tissue over your lips and sweep some translucent powder over the tissue to set the product with a truly matte finish.

Mecca recommends NARS Velvet Matte Lip pencil ($39). Try “Red Square” the tangerine orange colour or “Never Say Never”, a vibrant pink, Smashbox has also got fantastic bold shades in their new “Be Legendary” lips ($28.95). Their ultra-luxe formula offers saturated colour for long lasting wear, vitamins C and E to protect and a silky matte finish.

Popular shades from Smashbox include Fuchsia Flash and Electric Pink . For extra tricks on how to master the perfect lips, watch the Smashbox video tutorial.
