When some of the world’s most beautiful women love your products, you know you are doing something right. For NUDE Skincare founder Bryan Meehan he knew he was onto a good thing when supermodels Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen couldn’t get enough of his products. Now women around the world have fallen in love with NUDE and its natural approach to skincare. To find out more about why everyone needs to be using NUDE in their beauty regime we caught up with Bryan to get the inside word.

We are loving the NUDE skincare range! We know it was inspired by your time as Co-Founder & CEO of Fresh & Wild Organic Food Stores in London. Can you tell us how you worked with your business partner Ali to bring your idea to life?

Ali and I are both obsessed with using nature’s most nutritious ingredients. I saw first-hand at Fresh & Wild that consumers would purchase healthy, organic foods, but would use skincare products filled with chemicals. We saw a growing need for a skincare line that had natural, yet efficacious ingredients, so we started having more serious conversations about developing a line that reflects our values. Our unique experiences allowed us to come together to create NUDE Skincare in 2007.

Ali and her partner Bono are co-investors in NUDE Skincare. How did they come to be involved in the business?

Bono and Ali heard of “this Irish guy” running Fresh & Wild in London. At the time, they had the brand rights to the word “NUDE” and were keen to use NUDE and create a movement in an industry that was sleepy and needed to change. I first met them at their home in Ireland in 2005. Ali and I quickly discovered that we shared similar obsessions and beliefs about nature. Ali was designing her new clothing line EDUN (NUDE spelled backwards) and felt using NUDE in the cosmetics industry was a wonderful balance to what she was doing in fashion.

Some women have the misconception that natural skincare doesn’t perform as well as its more chemically enhanced counterparts. How have you ensured that NUDE Skincare actually works and why is it better for your skin than skincare which contains harmful ingredients?

The best way to answer this question is for you to try our Omega Cleansing Jelly and let the results speak for themselves. The proof is in the pudding!

How is NUDE Skincare different to other natural products on the market?

There are a lot of brands that talk about what is left out of their products but we take it a step further by being completely obsessed with both what we put in the product and what we leave out. We deeply consider each and every aspect of all ingredients in our products to deliver the purest, best nutrition for skin.

What are some of the challenges you faced developing NUDE Skincare?

For so long, consumers have been taught that natural ingredients simply don’t work.  One of our challenges has been to change this mentality and offer products that prove to customers natural products do have results.

Another challenge is that it is always more difficult to formulate without synthetic ingredients and still achieve the textures and results our customers expect. There is a lot more work and investigation in finding ingredients that fit with our values and perform to your expectations.

It would be hard to pick a favourite but is there a product from your line that every woman should have?

My personal favorite right now is our new ProGenius Omega Treatment Milk. It completely hydrates skin with superfood extracts and all five omegas (3, 5, 6, 7 & 9). One of the most important ways to keep skin healthy is to make sure it’s hydrated.

Not only are NUDE Skincare products natural, but you haven’t tested them on animals, instead sought feedback from supermodels like Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen. Not many companies can say that! How did their opinions influence your products?

Very early on, Christy and Helena got involved with NUDE and it was great fun. We were very grateful they helped test our products. They’ve tried it all and seen it all so their support that our products worked and were really making a difference gave us huge confidence.

We love that the packaging echoes the shape of pebbles found on the beaches of your native Ireland. Why was it important for you that the packing take on this natural shape?

The shores of Ireland (where Ali and I are from) are famous for their pebble beaches. These timeless stones, molded by the sea, seemed like such an attractive shape to have in your bathroom or in your hand and we wanted to recreate that feel with our packaging.

We think it’s fantastic that your life is based on the principle that chemicals are not necessary in agriculture, food and cosmetics. How do you apply this principle to your everyday life?

My wife Tara and I are completely obsessed with how we source our food, what impact we have on the environment and try very carefully to educate our three daughters that eating responsibly and being aware of what goes into a product they are using is important. What’s lovely is when your three daughters (ages 10, 13 and 16) become as obsessed with their skincare as you are. I’m proud to say that all three daughters are using NUDE.

What exciting things do you have planned for NUDE Skincare?

Over the next few years, we will be expanding our line with products our customers have been asking for as well as with unique additions to the range that are driven by innovations in nutrition for skin.
