After suffering from irritated skin and sinus issues for years, Chey Birch was inspired to create Black Chicken Remedies – an all natural range of skin, body and hair care products formulated based on ancient remedies and generations of therapeutic knowledge. After starting with their now cult product, Axilla Deodorant Paste, the range has now expanded to include a full suite of natural lifestyle products.

The newest addition to the range is Oral Swishing Oil and Copper Tongue Cleaner. While there is an increasing focus on gut health, mouth health is just as important. The mouth is home to trillions of bacteria and has an ecosystem of its own which requires it to be treated every now and then, as many problems which take place in the body at times the root cause of all those problems can be traced back to the oral health of a person. It’s thanks to some of these less desirable mouth bacteria that all kinds of health issues can arise, from bad breath through to tooth decay.

The link to overall health and longevity largely lies in the relationship between the mouth and the gut. On average, a person swallows between 1-2 litres of saliva a day. This equates to trillions of bacteria making their way down into your gut. Depending on the balance of mouth bacteria, this can mean that much of our ill health begins in the mouth and is passed down into the body.

Tooth decay never existed until the introduction of refined, processed foods laden with sugar, excess salt and toxins. Glancing at the history books tells us that our Western diet of refined grains and sweet treats has done nothing for living healthy, long lives.

The new Black Chicken Remedies products reduce unhealthy bacteria in the mouth by drawing on ancient Ayurvedic practices of oil pulling and tongue scraping.

Oral Swishing Oil (or oil pulling) is a practice that naturally neutralises harmful bacteria and restores balance in the mouth. As an ancient Ayurveda practice, it is known to draw out oil-soluble toxins from the mouth giving you fresher breath, whiter teeth and clearer skin. Tongue scraping is an ancient method to reduce excess bacteria from the mouth via copper, a bacterial resistant metal and known for its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

‘I’m forever trying and testing new and old remedies to better my own health’, says Chey. ‘Ayurveda practices continue to provide clues to achieving better health in our modern, toxic-ridden world. Oil pulling and tongue scraping have been around for thousands of years – the practice may be old but the evidence is clear.’

To celebrate the new products, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Black Chicken Remedies to give you the chance to win one of your very own Black Chicken Remedies Packs.
