You’ll know her designs immediately; the sleek, sexy, and fashion forward swimwear favourited by the style set, but now it’s time to meet Jessika Allen. Design maven behind JETS, Jessika has turned her vast knowledge and experience in fashion to create the must-have swimwear of the season. We speak to her about the latest collection, the trends we’ll be seeing at the beach, and what it means to have created an icon.

The SS15 collection is quite wide reaching; what was your inspiration for the design on the pieces?

This season’s Intuition Collection 14/15 was inspired by a fresh modern time; a new sartorial elegance, an irresistible allure that craves attention. Think heart-racing heat with ultra-glam fabrics and powered-up silhouettes.

Attentive to the needs of the fashion-smart woman, this season we’ve really focused on creating a collection that speaks directly to this consumer’s need for a day-to-night ensemble. Including a vast selection of swim, resortwear and accessories that can be mixed or matched back to create unique looks.

This is an exciting expansion to the collection and has allowed the brand to give the contemporary woman a myriad of looks to enhance her off-duty style.


What trends do you think will be seen at the beach this summer?

This season you can expect to see sports luxe, modern romantic style, hi-tech colour, sexy cut-outs and sheer inserts that expose flashes of skin in all the right places.

Strong and fierce is the trending look sporty-luxe featuring high necklines, action backs and scuba-inspired pieces. The athletic look has been extremely well received this past season and I believe we’re yet to see the last of it!

Also trending now is florals. This summer they range from tropical, textured brocade textiles and the modern style of contrasting stripes and geo with vibrant hibiscus.

Colour is also back in a big way with hyper-saturated hues set to energise your look ranging from pops of neon to bolder contrasts. Making the final statement is scene stealing stripes with crisp white highlights and geometric patterns.

As for new season shapes, flattering cut-outs with sexy transparent inserts are definitely the style of the moment!


JETS has quickly become the must-have swimwear brand for fashion conscious consumers; how does it feel to have that iconic status?

It’s been an amazing adventure that’s for sure with many highlights. Staying true to our design philosophy of fit, fashion and fabrication, and creating swim and resortwear for real women has played a vital role in where we are today.

Our focus on understanding what women want in their swimwear; to feel confident and beautiful, and understanding our customers allows us to create garments that celebrate the female form.

It feels hugely rewarding to have a hand in this process, and who’s not to say, being able to do what I love brings so much excitement and focus to each day.


The current campaign embodies the brands ethos of style, sleekness, and sensuality; what is the process of putting the campaign together?

This season’s Intuition Campaign was shot on location at the incredible Solis House located on Hamilton Island. Campaign models Hannah Saul and Jayde Heiser were the perfect contrast to this Whitsunday wonderland, truly defining the new season arrival with a bang!

From the architecture that craves attention and the panoramic views of pure turquoise blue, this season’s Campaign was a truly amazing experience and perfectly represents the high fashion sleekness and modern glamour JETS is renowned for.

Each year brings an exciting challenge – predicting new trends, selecting the colour palette, creating the themes that will reflect the trends and designing new shapes. From this comes the campaign concept, which is really the story we tell in introducing the collection and themes throughout the season. From scouting location to casting models and selecting the production crew, it all comes into fruition once the collection gets momentum in the design room.

As JETS has grown we’ve naturally modernised the collection, which in turn has created campaigns resembling new-age, strong women and sleek powerful settings.

One constant is our dedication to telling a story season-to-season, and remaining passionate about the brand.


Finally, do you have a favourite piece in the collection, or what is the must have swimwear piece for this summer?

While it’s always difficult to choose a favourite, I love the Classique high neck one-piece with low V-back. This one-piece truly epitomises the modernity of the Intuition Collection and is very sleek and tailored in shape.

For a more fashion-forward look, the sporty shape of the high neck Invigorate one-piece with side cut-outs is perfect. The photographic water wave compliments the natural curve of the body so it looks very flattering on.

Another great piece is the Botanica neoprene wetsuit with cut-outs and white micro mesh. The punchy tropical print and zip-front makes this fashion-forward.

As for a bikini look, the Botanica continuous underwire bikini top and matching pant with sporty white micro-net detailing is great for a modern look.
