The Peroni marquee at the Portsea Polo is definitely the place to be this Saturday with not only international supermodel and face of Peroni, Natalia Borges, present but also the talented Italian actor, Flavio Parenti, attending to add an additional touch of Italy to the marquee.
You may be familiar with Flavio from his work in Woody Allen’s To Rome with Love as well as the critically acclaimed I am Love. He is in town as a guest of Peroni but also to immerse himself in Australian culture as he has been recently cast as the lead actor in the first ever Italian/Australian co-produced feature film, The Space Between which is a romantic drama set in the northern Italian Trivenetor Region and directed by Melbourne Based director Rugh Borgobello.
The film, set to begin shooting in March 2015, has been confirmed by Palace Cinemas’ CEO, Benjamin Zeccola, to be part of the 2015 Lavazza Italian Film Festival with a national release to follow. “We were drawn to the project firstly in reaction to the brilliant story, the pathos of two lovers intertwined with a sumptuous food and wine journey through leading food capitals of Melbourne and Italy. We also felt a deep personal connection to The Space Between as my family’s own history is one that spans the generations across Italian and Australian heritage.” says Zeccola.
Parenti, who speaks fluent English, is one of Italy’s most famous actors, beginning his cinema career in 2008, starring in Sergio Rubini’s At a Glance and Silvio Muccino’s Talk to me about Love. In 2009, he starred alongside Tilda Swinton in the critically acclaimed, international success ‘I am Love’, directed by Luca Guadagnino. In 2012, Flavio co- starred in Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love, in Goltzius and The Pelican Company, directed by Peter Greenaway and was lead actor in the miniseries Un Matrimonio directed by prolific Italian master, Pupi Avati. He has also appeared in a Dolce & Gabbana campaign.
Parenti will definitely add an additional Italian touch to the Peroni Marquee at the Portsea Polo. So if you’re heading down to Portsea Polo keep your eyes out for this talented actor in the Peroni Marquee.
