The Melbourne Cup Carnival kicks off things this Saturday with Derby Day. During the Spring Carnival, the action isn’t limited to carparks and marquees, but will be found in the new entertainment and fashion precinct at Flemington, The Park. This will be home to an expanded area for Myer Fashions on the Field, James Boag’s Premium Bar, Lavazza coffee, L’Oréal Paris Powder Room, the Yellowglen Terrace as well as home to some of Melbourne’s hottest restaurants and culinary destinations including Hanoi Hannah and Saigon Sally, Huxtaburger, Gelato Messina, Biggie Smalls, Doughnut Time and Knafeh.
Aside from this there is plenty to do so we’ve rounded up some of the places we’re going to visit during the Cup Carnival.
FLEMINGTON FLING BAR
The iconic Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar returns bigger and bolder for the 2016 Melbourne Cup Carnival, with an impressive line-up of Australia’s top DJs, signature cocktails and the energetic vibe that makes the Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar the place to soak up all the Carnival atmosphere. Race-goers will be spoilt for choice with an array of bespoke cocktails, inspired by the unique ingredients of the Schweppes range and expertly created by a team of master mixologists. It wouldn’t be Spring Racing without the beloved ‘Flemington Fling’ – the official cocktail of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – tantalising taste buds with a mix of vodka, fresh lime, aromatic mint and the fruity flavour of Schweppes Agrum Blood Orange.
So enjoy the only bar in GA with live DJs including Grant Smillie, Andy Murphy, John Course and Minx as well as the new, specially crafted cocktails. Some of the new cocktail lineup include ‘Down The Straight’, with a refreshing mix of rum, lime, fresh ginger and Schweppes Lemonade; ‘The Clock Tower Cooler’, with a blended mix of scotch whisky, lemon, fresh apple juice and Schweppes Dry Ginger Ale; and ‘Weight For (S)age’, combining gin, orange wedges, fresh sage and Schweppes Bitter Lemon.
