The Swan Street Chamber of Commerce has popped up on Melbourne’s iconic Swan Street, a food and cultural precinct that showcases a unique mix of Australian businesses in one collaborative and dynamic retail space. Located in the stunning, heritage-listed former Commonwealth Bank building, the nine-month pop up project houses an eclectic mix of retail and cultural tenants, making use of a remarkable site that would otherwise be empty, while bringing the local community a range of experiences, goods and services not currently available in the precinct.
An emphasis on food and drink within the Street Chamber of Commerce is evident, with everything from baked goods, ice-cream sandwiches, premium chocolate, soft shell crab burgers and cereal on the menu, washed down with cold-pressed juices, coffee from Will & Co’s first Melbourne outlet and a huge variety of teas from Storm in a Teacup. It’s not all for foodies though; a pop up flower store, planter frames, ceramic cups, film screenings and vintage records have also found a temporary home in the Street Chamber of Commerce.
Open seven days a week from 7am, The Swan Street Chamber of Commerce is home to a collective of artisan tenants including Rustica Sourdough, Fitzroy’s much-loved sourdough breads and sweet pastry treats, hand- crafted using traditional baking techniques; Cereal Anytime, a cereal café pouring breakfast by the bowlful with a choice of different milks and a dietician onsite to encourage healthy eating; Pressed Juices, cold-pressed nourishment in a simple, effective and tasty way that is positively life changing; My Two Mums, nostalgic ice cream sandwiches with mix and match flavours including red velvet, cardamom and pistachio or choc-chip cookies paired with rock-salt caramel, jaffa or green-tea ice cream; Monsieur Truffe, high quality, single-origin chocolate that captures the various, distinct flavours of the regions the cocoa beans are sourced from; Storm in a Teacup, specialty tea brewers, serving a range of the world’s best tea with an amazing Steampunk tea extraction machine and The Val Cinema, celebrating and screening cult favourites, unseen new releases and lost treasures, four nights a week from sunset.
