The one place you need to visit during the 2013 Melbourne Cup Carnival (aside from the betting arena) is the Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar on Level 1 of the Hill Stand, which was launched on Saturday at Turnbull Stakes Day.  At the launch, Schweppes unveiled the 2013 Flemington Fling Ambassador, DJ Andy Murphy, who will be mixing up his signature sounds for the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

With fashion credentials, his passion for uniting music with style, made Andy the perfect choice as Schweppes Australia’s ambassador for the Flemington Fling – the signature cocktail for the Melbourne Cup Carnival. In his role Andy will perform each day of the Carnival in the Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar and also be part of the judging panel for Schweppes DJ crowd-sourcing competition. For aspiring DJs, the “Flemington Fling Mix It” promotion will see up and coming DJs submit a track via the Schweppes Australia Facebook page for their chance to play in the Flemington Fling Bar during the Melbourne Cup Carnival alongside Andy.

Andy will also produce a Flemington Fling inspired party mix which will be free for all punters to stream at their race days parties from the Schweppes Australia You Tube Channel. “To be involved with such an iconic event as the Melbourne Cup Carnival is awesome. I’ve enjoyed having to taste test a few Flemington Flings along the way, and I’m looking forward to the Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar having such a progressive music focus – it’ll be a great carnival!”

“Wherever you’re celebrating the races, make sure you have the perfect mix for your race day party with good company, great music, and of course, a Schweppes Flemington Fling in hand,” said Andy. “The Schweppes Flemington Fling tastes great, looks good and is easy to make, so it’s the perfect drink to serve at your Spring Racing parties and is sure to be a crowd pleaser,” said Andy.

The Flemington Fling Bar will also be the place for fashionistas to get their latest style must-have: race day nail art designed by Helen O’Connor, Australian Fashion Designer for  Thurley. A different cocktail-inspire design will be on offer at Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar every race day.

The Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar brings the Melbourne laneway bar experience to the Races with industrial finishes set against a graphic inspired backdrop lined with the Schweppes 1783 varieties – perfect for the cocktails served by the experienced mixologists. At capacity the Flemington Fling Bar holds 600 people and is expected to host over 2,000 racegoers throughout the Carnival.

The Schweppes Flemington Fling Bar will be open to the public from 9:30am until 30 minutes after last race on AAMI Victoria Derby Day (Saturday, 2 November), Emirates Melbourne Cup (Tuesday, 5 November), Crown Oaks Day (Thursday, 7 November) and Emirates Stakes Day (Saturday, 9 November).
