Fashion month has come to an end and has given us plenty of outfit inspo, but now the hard part starts – how do you take your new favourite, lust-have trend from the runway to real life? Enter, Melbourne Central. We took a trip to the Styling & Personal Shopping Service and visited retailers from their expansive line up, guided by one of the talented styling team, Elaine Marshall, and guess what? We found that it’s not that hard to rip the look from the catwalk and put it into your wardrobe.

ON THE RUNWAY

The 70s trend has been one of the most celebrated trends on the runway this past fashion month, with everybody from Tommy Hilfiger, to Chanel, to Bec & Bridge all integrating the trend into their latest collections. With hemlines shorter than short, and look-at me prints, embrace your inner Studio 54 goer and get a little groovy this season!

REAL LIFE

Jolie & Deen know a good print, so for this look we took a trip to their Melbourne Central boutique and immediately were drawn to the print of this mini, which formed the basis of the look. To take the look from the 70s into 2015, layer a versatile navy wool coat over an on-trend lilac knit, and to take the look to 70s It Girl status, complete with geometric accessories, like the cuff and necklace we selected.

Want to give the retro redux look a try, or are you after a full wardrobe overhaul? Keep an eye out in the next few weeks for a very stylish save the date   – the Melbourne Central One Day Shopping Festival is back again! With special deals, events, and gotta-have-it sales, the 12 hour festival is one of the Melbourne fashion fiend’s most anticipated days of the year.
