Pallas Athene, the autumn winter 2013 collection of Australian design powerhouse Manning Cartell, is a unique fusion of luxury and wearability.

Pallas Athene is the goddess of wisdom, courage, and inspiration; the sense of Manning Cartells Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. She was a shrewd companion of heroes and the goddess of heroic endeavour, strong, intelligent and pure.

Autumn/Winter sees the merging of two contradictory qualities to create a new world of possibilities. The wisdom of past is evident in traditional fabrics such as brocade, tapestry, argyle, and applique embroidery. The future – technology, youth, communication and information – is seen in graphic prints, lacquered and coated fabrics, decorated leather, bonded ponte, techno stretches, sheer knits and ribbed jersey. The collection is about modern sophistication; glamouress and decadent with masculine tailoring and elements of active. Silhouettes are sculptural, hourglass figures with sexy sheaths, plunging necklines and thigh high splits. Jackets are oversized and boxy, knitwear is textural and detailed with slim stovepipe and carrot leg trousers. A filtered palette of white, black, blue and grey is set amongst metallic in gold, bronze and copper with highlight colours of citrine, cerise, and red.

A selected drop of Manning Cartell’s AW13 collection will be arriving in store later this month, with the complete collection due in stores throughout February.
