The infamous Zimmermann dress donned by Kate Middleton is in stores now.
Zimmermann’s ‘Roamer Day Dress’, as worn by the Duchess of Cambridge during the Royal Tour of Australia in April, has hit stores this week.
Designer Nicky Zimmermann says of the moment she found out Kate was wearing the dress; “It was such an amazing thing for us and for our team. I was away for the weekend and didn’t have any phone reception for a few hours and then suddenly I had all these messages telling me to turn on a TV. To see Kate wearing our dress on the beach – I thought she looked so elegant and vibrant.”
The cream brodie anglaise dress worn by Kate is part of Zimmemann’s current Summer Swim Collection. Modern, clean shapes put the focus on flattering silhouettes in this collection. The technical simplicity of moulded triangle bra tops instil an understated femininity while considered cut-outs, side-tied bikini bottoms and custom bust line wires are effortlessly risqué. Geo-dot laser cutting and mesh inserts hint at a sporty influence. Elastic finishes add a further athletic touch.
The label’s signature use of paisley is updated with contrast nude-tone binding. A white and blue porcelain floral brings crisp impact amongst a fresh and elegant mix of prints. Bonded lycra in blocks of black and white keep the overall aesthetic chic and polished.
A peaceful confidence is exuded by dresses and playsuits in easy, feminine styles. The relaxed luxury of silk cotton, textured voile and broderie anglaise take an unfussy approach to day dressing. Smock tops and light trousers work back with latticed leather sandals and bucket bags to composed and stylish effect.
