When it comes to buying and selling property, it’s all about location, location, location. Arguably, the same can be said about restaurants, and when it comes to location, it doesn’t get much better than being on the banks of the Yarra River.

Fenix has been a fixture on the Richmond food and drink scene for years. Only 10 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD and close to public transport, the venue is the perfect backdrop for any event. Previously a popular venue for fine dining, the beautiful space which overlooks the river has been revamped. Its interior has be re-decorated by interior designer Shareen Joel, with a modern edge and minimalist aesthetic, which really emphasises Fenix’s priceless view, further enhanced by the venue’s private balcony.

On Wednesday, Fenix hosted a decadent event to showcase their new space and new menu created by Executive Chef Roland Gordon. Tray after tray of delicious canapes were brought out for guests to sample. Carefully made sushi, tasty arancini balls, gnochi and goats cheese tarts were some of the treats on offer.

Dessert lovers weren’t left disappointed, with mini pavlovas, ice-cream sandwiches and eclairs, delicious enough to satisfy every sweet-tooth. Espresso martinis and mojitos were highlight of the drinks menu, complimenting the fresh flavours of the canapes.

Fenix Directors Eric and Carly Cohen mingled with guests, explaining the new concept behind the event space. Formerly a restaurant, Fenix is now focusing on hosting special events such as weddings and parties. There is plenty of room for a stand up cocktail party, intimate gathering or big wedding.
