bare-minerals-works-for-women-of-color-21344863

I don’t know whether it’s the cold weather, lack of exercise or working in a heated office, but recently my skin has been looking a little dull. I’ve also had the displeasure of discovering a lot of little bumps hiding under the surface which is far from ideal.

Makeup wise, generally during the day I wear tinted moisturiser (Aveda Inner Light Tinted Moisturiser) mixed with a little foundation (Origins Plantscription Foundation). After hearing so many people raving about bareMinerals makeup, I decided to give it a try with the hopes it would help my skin.

I have always found mineral makeup to be a little bit fiddly but the bareMinerals packaging locks into place when you close it so it stops power from escaping. After getting some assistance from a Mecca in store consultant, I selected the following products:

* Prime Time Brightening Foundation Primer

* Original SPF 15 Foundation

* Mineral Veil

* READY Blush

* READY Bronzer

* Flawless Application Face Brush

I personally prefer a dewey finish with my makeup and have combination skin so found those products the best suited for my skin type and the look I was hoping to achieve. As someone who is guilty of not priming during the day, I found the primer to be very effective in keeping my makeup on the whole day. I would also highly recommend it if you are trying mineral products at it allows the products to go on smoother. The Mineral Veil is also great at helping to lock your makeup in place which is particularly great for nights out.

The Flawless Application Brush makes it easy to buff the products into your skin. If this is your first time trying mineral makeup, I found it is easy to get product build up down your nose in between your eyes so go easy on that area.

For those who love a dewey finish like me, i think it is virtually impossible to achieve the same look you can with liquid makeup, but I did find that after a few hours, the minerals seem to blend in with the natural oils in my skin, softening the powdery look. Therefore I recommend if you have a special occasion and you want a dewier look, apply your make up a bit earlier to give your skin time to de-mattify the product.

I have personally found the bronzer to provide enough coverage for kicking around on the weekend, and the blush is definitely one of my new favourite products. It glides on easily and you only need a little for the colour to show.

I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin and think it’s a great alternative to liquid foundation during the work day, particularly as the products are so natural.

While I will still be using liquid foundation for special events, I definitely recommend trying bareMinerals for your day-to-day makeup if you are looking for a natural alternative which will not be so harsh on your skin.
