Pint of Origin returns for its 11th year from now until May 21 2023, kicking off a massive fortnight for beer lovers across Melbourne. A unique, create-your-own-adventure beer festival, Pint of Origin showcases the world of beer across Melbourne’s world class pubs and bars.

It was conceived by the team at local independent beer publication The Crafty Pint, making its debut as part of Good Beer Week in 2012. Pint of Origin quickly became one of the most popular streams at the globally-recognised festival then ran as a standalone event in 2022 when Good Beer Week was canceled due to COVID-19.

The concept is simple: 20 venues each host a different region of Australia, country or part of the world for ten days, turning over their taps and fridges to beers from their chosen region. They also put on events including themed tap takeovers, degustations, pairing events, meet the brewer sessions and collaboration launches.

About 1,000 different beers (many of them exclusive and never before seen in Australia) will be poured over the 10 days at the 20 venues. They come from breweries of all shapes and sizes: some of the biggest local and international names in craft beer, top-rated breweries who’ve never poured beer in Melbourne before, and tiny indie operations from places including Kalgoorlie, Alice Springs and Bruny Island.

Pint of Origin is brought to you by The Crafty Pint, an independent online magazine and resource for anyone interested in craft beer in Australia, publishing 1000s of stories, events and beer write-ups, as well as a resource featuring the country’s best breweries, bars, and bottleshops.

The Pint of Origin leads the procession of beer events taking place in Melbourne in May including GABS Festival at the Royal Exhibition Building from May 19-21 and Good Beer Week running from May 20 to the 28th. The country’s largest beer awards, the Australian International Beer Awards, take place on May 25th.
