With her bronzed limbs and her choppy blonde bob, Lara Bingle is the ultimate beach babe. After the success of her swimwear line for Cotton On, it only seems fitting that her latest venture sees her release her own tanning and bronzing line, The Base by Lara Bingle.

The beautiful model and entrepreneur is known for her golden skin, so we caught up with her to find out just exactly how The Base would give us that famous Bingle glow, as well as the low down on her workout secrets and where she goes for inspiration.

Congratulations on the launch of The Base! Where did the inspiration behind the brand and products come from?

The idea of The Base started last year. The thought of developing a product, designing a range, building a website, learning every detail of how an online shop works, creating campaigns and overseeing a team of people to help my vision come to life, seemed SO overwhelming. But I believe in taking educated risks, working hard, and dreaming big, and that was the solid base I needed to begin. I draw inspiration from everything! I never know who or what will inspire a great idea, so I try to be truly engaged in the world around me.

We know you were involved every step of the way in developing The Base. What are some of the challenges you faced creating your line?

With all the little hurdles along the way, there has been nothing more rewarding and fulfilling for me then seeing women receive their Base products and love them! That’s why I am so passionate about starting The Base as an online store only. I believe this allows me to connect personally and directly with my customers/community which is the most important thing for me in building the brand The Base.

What makes The Base stand out from other bronzing and tanning lines?

The focus for The Base collection was to develop products that transform your look and enhance your natural glow from head to toe. It’s not about changing what products you may love and use now. I wanted products that would complement and enhance your beauty that was instant, convenient and easy to use.

How did your partner react when he found out you were developing your own tanning line (because we all know how much guys love the smell of fake tan – hahaha!)?

He’s my biggest supporter.

You’ve had your makeup done by some of the best in the industry. Any makeup secrets you’ve picked up along the way you can share with us?

Always take off your make up before bed and curl your lashes before applying mascara.

Who are your beauty icons?

All woman from old school supermodels to women on the street inspire me.

What are your makeup bag must haves?

Everything I use now is all about getting glow-y. Right now, my must haves are Yves Saint Laurent’s Touché Éclat for under the eyes, The Base by Lara Bingle LB cream, Chanel Sublimage Cream on my cheeks, The Base by Lara Bingle skin perfecting illuminators to highlight the natural curves of my face and body and to finish, I’ll use Maybelline Volume Express Waterproof Mascara.

Who’s been the biggest influence in your life and what have they taught you?

Visionary, self-made women with inspirational careers (like Natalie Massenet of Net-A-Porter.com, Victoria Beckham and Oprah).

You have one of the best bods in the business. How do you keep in shape?

Workouts with high repetition, light weights or using your own body weight. Long distance, medium speed running and anything outdoors, like walking and swimming is also great.

What exciting things do you have planned for 2015?

Wow. I feel like I’ve only just begun creating The Base. It’s always all about the modern women for me and helping her enhance her inner beauty.
