Getting the right Beauty look for a runway show can be challenging if the runway show features different designers and colours and styles. Fortunately, the team behind KEVIN.MURPHY and Napoleon Perdis, put their skills and experience to create the perfect beauty look at the Myer A/W14 collection launch last night in Melbourne.

The team behind KEVIN.MURPHY styled the hair of the 43 models involved in the show, and created a look that was in part inspired by British ‘It’ girls Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne. Nathan Gorman, Co-Hair Director of the event, said that the look created for the event was ‘sleek and polished’, embodying the strong modern woman of today, without taking away from the fashion on the runways’. He added that “in the last couple of years, hair has been layered and choppy, but now as we move away from the layers, hair is solid, simplistic, leaning more to natural straight hair with even layers’.

The effortless natural look of the hair was created by prepping the hair with KEVIN.MURPHY’s Maxi.Wash to exfoliate the hair, followed by Angel.Wash, Rinse & Masque.  Hair was then primed using Anti.Gravity which Nathan said was his key product for the day to keep fly-aways at bay. Then sections of the hair were blow dried using a Round.Brush, without wrapping the hair around the brush. A centre part was created and the look was finished with a light mist of Shimmer.Shine and Session.Spray.

Napoleon Perdis created the makeup looks for the runway. The inspiration behind the look was the creation of an understated, effortless, confident woman.

Kate Squires, from Napoleon, said that the key part of the look was “creating strength in the eyes but not so they stand out. Using shadows in sand, champagne and brown to sculpt the eye helped to add definition without harsh edges.”  The eye shape was defined using Matte Eye Ink along the top lash line. The eyes were framed with strong brows instead of using mascara. This helped to provide a strong silhouette and frame the eye but also help to keep the look soft at the same time. The fuller brow was created using a mix of Chine Doll Gel Eyeliner Tao with a suitable shade from Pro palette.

Skin was matte and creamy without being dewy, keeping in line with the overall natural look, using Sheer Genius Foundation. Cheeks were softly contoured from the temple to the jawline with The Ultimate Contour Palette, whilst the lips also gave a hint of colour using the matte peach colour of Mattetastic Lipstick Ava.

The total look, which can be easily re-created at home, is “you but better”. Definitely something to try this weekend!
