Beauty has no age and we should learn to embrace our own beauty as we grow older. Lancôme Australia have launched their Love Your Age campaign, a befitting campaign that celebrates beauty at all ages. With the proven power of Genifique, Lancôme are encouraging all women to start a revolution by spelling out their age, loud and clear!
Lancôme Australia have launched the #loveyourage digital platform and features four of Lancôme’s ambassadresses as they speak openly and proudly about their age.
It will be the first time; Maison Lancôme has united four of its ambassadresses in a single project. Kate Winslet, Penélope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o and Lily Collins: the four actresses each declare their age.
Celebrating the launch, Lancôme ambassadress, Penelope Cruz shared some of her thoughts on beauty, life and Lancôme.
What makes a Lancôme woman exceptional?
I have memories of images from Lancôme in my head since I was a teenager. Since I was a little girl, I remember seeing some of those iconic images and being blown away by their beauty and their mystery and what they represented. Since the time of Isabella Rossellini, which is the first memory I have of Lancôme advertising. The work that she did with Peter Lindbergh. I was really fascinated by the feeling that I always got from those images. There were no clichés and no boundaries. Really liberating and inspiring message. With no words, just with an image. And, of course, always a beautiful homage to love and the energy of it.
What makes a woman luminous?
Every time I see a woman that radiates and transmits that type of feeling, that type of energy, it’s never in conflict with whatever she’s feeling inside.
What is youth to you?
I think because growing up in Europe, I have a different relationship with that. It just means, one more birthday, looking forward to, celebrating, that you are here and hopefully healthy. That’s the only thing I care about, health. Then you can get the strength to deal with everything else, whatever the problem is. But every birthday, I wake up and feel incredibly grateful for that and for my health.
And that’s really the only thing that counts. I’m also very grateful for my family, which is the most important thing in my life, and for a job that I love so much since I was a little girl, acting. Being able to keep combining my work in Europe and my work in America. And there are some things that I love about this profession. I have a real passion and respect for acting. Other things about this job are, of course, a little bit shocking in terms of how sometimes the industry, not in general, but part of the industry treats, still today, in a very different way, women and men. And one of those things is that they would never ask a man, an actor, in a press conference, about his age or how does he feel about turning 40, 50.
For a woman, I think they’ve been asking me how I feel about getting older since I was 20! So, always my way to fight that was to ignore those questions because you really feel sometimes this force that wants to put you inside a box and wants you to say things that you don’t want to talk about. That’s not the way I see things. I’m just grateful for what I have, and I will feel like this when I am 50 and when I am 60 and hopefully a 100, because it’s only more to celebrate.
What is your beauty secret?
My beauty secret would be, of course, Advanced Génifique. I’ve used this product for many years now, but this is a new formula. Advanced Génifique has been now transformed a little bit to even better quality, amazing results. I don’t talk about this just because I’m the ambassadress of the brand. I really have used the product for many years and I love it. The same way Trésor has been my own perfume since I was 14 years old!
