Alice Euphemia is the little shop with the big personality. Stocking the best fashion from Australia and New Zealand, Alice Euphemia has quickly become a must visit shopping destination for fashion die-hards. Last night, Alice Euphemia hosted a celebration for the store’s 16th birthday and the launch of cult Australia label, Romance Was Born’s Pre-Collection ‘The Miraculous Mundane’. Romance Was Born designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales flew down from Sydney to join in the celebrations.

The Miraculous Mundane was inspired by the work of Australian artist Stephen Bush, whose artwork focuses around surrealism, ‘creating juxtapositions of the visceral and the sublime.’ The Romance Was Born duo then added their trademark touch of quirkiness by combining Bush’s digital prints with a twist of Willy Wonka. Syrupy greens and pinks are combined in lollipop like swirls on flowing and structured silk pieces, with psychedelic prints and bursts of fluro pink and acid green rounding out the collection.

Romance Was Born are one label not afraid to push the boundaries of fashion, and do not seem to bow to the restrictions of commerciality. Their style is perfect for Alice Euphemia’s offbeat aesthetic and risk taking approach to fashion. Priding itself on being the first to stock the ‘new best thing’, Alice Euphemia is filled with quirky labels, perfect for the fashion lover who is looking for something that will make them stand out from the crowd.
