Bar Schweppes returns to Flemington’s Birdcage Enclosure for the Melbourne Cup Carnival on Saturday 1 November 2014, AAMI Victoria Derby Day. This year, Bar Schweppes takes its inspiration from one of the hottest trends in food and cocktails, the American Deep South. Conjure up images of New Orleans Bourbon Street, Louisiana Creole and smoky South Caroline and Texan barbecue, all wrapped in an authentic Deep South-style bar.
It is no more fitting than to celebrate the launch of Bar Schweppes at the Melbourne Cup Carnival with a soiree at one of Melbourne’s favourites for American inspired food and cocktails, Le Bon Ton in Collingwood. Guests at the launch were given a preview of some of the bespoke cocktails that have been created by Melbourne’s best bartenders for the Melbourne Cup Carnival including the signature cocktail of the carnival, the Schweppes Flemington Fling.
Bar Schweppes will be serving up cocktails created by Melbourne’s best bartenders from Black Pearl, Le Bon Ton and Seamstress. Partnering with Diageo and its premium spirits range, Bar Schweppes will be serving these Deep South-inspired cocktails with some of Melbourne’s best bartenders manning the bar, meaning that the cocktail menu is the best in The Birdcage.
The menu will feature dishes from newly opened Bluebonnet Barbecue and Meatmaiden, alongside Le Bon Ton and Meat Mother, and will include dishes of Pulled Pork, Slow cooked brisket, Mac & Cheese and Texas Chilli. The menu will complete the experience of a true Deep South Bar.
With a comprehensive ode to the Deep South in its cocktail menu and food offerings, and DJ Andy Murphy mixing it up in the afternoon of each race day, Bar Schweppes will be the place to be this Melbourne Cup Carnival.
