The art of the perfect ceremony is something that the Japanese take very seriously. So it’s not surprising that the ceremonies by Japanese brand Shu Uemuera Art of Hair follow a similar mantra. These ceremonies are in-salon beauty treatments for your hair and go beyond just your normal hair treatment. The Shu Uemura hair ceremonies are unique, customised treatments that combine shiatsu-inspired sensorial gestures with high performance remedies for your hair and scalp. The ultimate aim is to meld the power of nature with the science and help you reach natural perfection

I recently got to experience the new Garden of Eden ceremony at Oscar Oscar salon in St Kilda. A wonderful mix of beauty and relaxation enhanced with the addition of the limited edition Matcha, a specifically blended by Matcha Maiden to beautify and boost the health of hair. The hair beautifying tea blend was an interesting concept, blended by Matcha Maiden, containing pure stone ground green tea and marine collagen. The marine collagen used to promote general health and wellbeing, while also enhancing the growth, strength and quality of the hair fiber. It was really relaxing to sip on this unique tea during the experience which started off with an assessment of my hair.

I really liked the effort that was spent at the beginning of the session to understand my hair, assess the health of it and understand any concerns I had with my hair so that the ceremony could be tailored specifically for me.

We started off with a hair wash with the Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration shampoo and conditioner. Infused with lotus and ceremide, this range was used to give my hair nutrition and hydration which it needed after some colour treatment I had had on my hair.

This was followed by application of a masque to the hair. The masque was a mix of different treatments to help remedy some of the concerns I had (which was why the initial discussion about the condition of my hair was so important). The bespoke mixture included the Ultimate Remedy Extreme masque as well as some drops from the Master Serums range that helped with with repair, strength and shine. The resulting masque was fiber massaged into my hair meaning the masque was applied into sections of hair and then that section was twisted in loops, designed to enhance the masques effectiveness and absorption into the hair follicles.  Left to absorb for a few minutes, I sipped on my tea and really just enjoyed the time to relax. Before the masque was washed out, I was treated to a delightful shiatsu scalp massage which really just topped off the session. Talk about being blissfully relaxed in a hair salon!

The Shu Uemura Art of Hair ceremony takes hair treatment to a new level. My hair felt absolutely amazing after and I’m so glad that the treatment focussed on some of the concerns I had in my hair. Thanks to the team at Oscar Oscar for the post perfect blow wave as well after the treatment.
