We might be locked down but it doesn’t mean we can’t still make Mother’s Day a special one for your mum. Many of our restaurants and bars in Melbourne are offering gastronomic delights that can help celebrate the special day with your mum virtually or in person. We’ve rounded up what’s on offer around Melbourne.



Set the table and get ready for a feast with Embla’s Mother’s Day menu ($45pp, min.2). Treat your mum to a deluxe three course lunch featuring dishes from one of Australia’s leading Chefs, Dave Verheul, who has put together delicious menu featuring Embla’s famous Roast chicken, mustard and tarragon.  This much talked about main dish is accompanied by luxurious sides of Red Cabbage, red apple, prune and parmesan and Dutch Cream hasselback potatoes but before you even get to the Roast chicken, the starter is a beautiful dish of Stracciatella, braised dandeloin, walnut and quince.  A beautiful Passionfruit and white chocolate eton mess will finish the gastronomic journey.

The menu does require some assembly but the pay off will no doubt make your mum feel special.

Treat your mum to the impeccable High Tea experience from Crown’s Conservatory from the comfort of yours or your mum’s own home. Southside favourites Bistro Gitan, L’Hôtel Gitan and Fréderic are offering families European dining at home this Mother’s Day with Gitan Hampers. Curated by the talented Gitan chefs, each hamper includes gorgères, broth of mushrooms, prawn and scallop ravioli, chicken ballotine with potato boulangèrie, and an indulgent chocolate and caramel tart. Available in two sizes, the Couple’s Hamper serves two for $95, and the Family Hamper feeds a family for four for $60 which includes a kids mac and cheese. Add the mac and cheese to the Couple’s Hamper for $15, or make Mother’s Day even more special by adding a bottle of champagne for $75.

We might not be able to take Mum out to celebrate with drinks, but we can definitely make mum her favourite cocktail with snazzy Cocktails and Cocktail making kits from The Emerson. They’ve converted to an on wheels service, delivering pre-made cocktails and cocktail making kits, and delicious meal boxes to go with it. Cocktails include Moscow Mule, Southside or Lychee martinis whilst meal boxes include delicious offerings such as Cheese burgers, Southern fried chicken tenders or mac’n’cheese. Windsor neighbourhood favourite Tipico is offering a bespoke takeaway menu to make Mother’s Day special at home. With two antipasti, pasta, secondi and dolci dishes on offer, patrons can choose individual items or order one dish from each course for $160. Expect modern Italian plates such as burrata with roasted roma tomatoes and basil pesto, duck ragu gnocchi, guancia (braised beef cheek) and everyone’s favourite tiramisu.
