Elegance and sophisticated beauty oozed off the Vogue runway at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival for the first of the L’Oreal runway shows.  Opting for a timeless, classy look the models were polished to perfection.

The beauty look, developed by L’Oreal Paris Make up Director Rae Morris, complemented the designers’ collections that were predominantly structured and classy. This beauty look is incredibly versatile, meaning that you can add glamour to Collette Dinnigan shorts or be the finishing touch to a high class metallic gold Carla Zampatti dress.

The models’ hair were swept into a sleek side bun with a side fringe part. The structured up-do complemented the high neck lines of various dresses and suits on the runway. In particular, the neat style looked fabulous with Willow’s high necked billowy white dress and Scanlan and Theodore’s turtle necked brown leather suit. Stylists proved that if you’re going to wear a high necked outfit you should avoid overdoing it by keeping your hair up! As L’Oreal Professional Hair Director Caterina Di Biase advised, “this is look is very subtle with a minimal approach with a hint of 1960’s influence a la Twiggy”.

To showcase the gorgeous designs, makeup itself was kept pretty and natural. The skin was prepped with L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer before applying Lumi Magique Foundation and Lumi Magique Concealer. The glossy primer glides on easily and can be worn alone as an illuminator or under foundation for a smoother complexion. The new L’Oreal foundation is great for making skin look brighter and provides full coverage for flawless skin. For a slight sun-kissed look, L’Oreal Paris Glam Bronze in La Terra was buffed onto the cheekbones. The end result was flawless, luminous skin.

Makeup artists went for an understated eye using a brown colour palette. This palette was natural looking and looked great with the monochromatic colour schemes on display. Models’ eyebrows were groomed and filed in with Colour Riche Le Sourcil in golden brown.   Then eyes were framed with white eyeliner using Colour Riche Le Khol in 120 Immaculate Snow which really opened up the eye. The eyelids sparkled as they were painted using Les Ombres Timeless Beige with a sweep of Magnetic Black False Lash Telescopic Mascara.

The beauty emphasis was on the lips at runway one with a splash of plum. The bold lip colour certainly matched the diverse range of fashion on display, going well with the glimmering Scanlan & Theodore outfits as well as Collette Dinnigan’s black lace dresses. This colour is perfect for Autumn, with a lovely bright intensity ideal for the cooler season.

Be inspired by L’Oreal Runway 01 by injecting its old-school glamour into an updated beauty look this Autumn!
