Internationally renowned designer John Fluevog is opening his first stand-alone store in Australia – taking up residence in the hub of Melbourne’s art scene on Degraves Street. Existing in the world of high-end fashion since the late 70s, Fluevog’s creative designs have stood the test of many a fashion era, maintaining uniqueness unlike any other in the industry and making statement pieces for the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Madonna.
Fluevog Chief Marketing Officer Stephen Bailey said launching an Australian flagship store in Melbourne was a natural progression given the brand has always had a strong cult following from Melburnian shoe lovers. “Fluevog is all about challenging the status quo and disrupting typical shoe norms, and that seems to mirror this city’s personality in the Australian context,” he said. “An opportunity to take a premises on Degraves Street came up through one of our retail partners – it was the perfect chance to tap into Melbourne’s shoe zeitgeist. There’s nothing more quintessentially Melbourne – the area has great coffee, is full of hidden secrets, and now we couldn’t be prouder that we’re part of this. Fluevog loves to inspire people, to gift them with a product that empowers who they are and how they feel. Having graced the feet of icons mentioned plus many more, Fluevog began in Vancouver, constantly expanding with stores all over Canada, the US and the Netherlands. The Australian flagship store is being assembled by a design team in Vancouver, and then shipped to Melbourne, where it will be placed in full at the new location.
