Melbourne based Jacqui Demkiw is not afraid of our fair city’s penchant for black on black, a trend (or rather, a staple) she has embraced in designing White Suede’s Autumn Winter 2016 collection. Using texture play as a way of breaking up the monochrome madness, the new season brings with it leather and lace as an alternative to colour blocking- “texture blocking,” as it has become affectionately known. Ahead of White Suede’s showing at Fashion Week, our host Jasmin Howell chats to Jacqui about the upcoming season, embracing a 70’s inspired silhouette and why interesting textures could be the antidote to a seemingly simple ensemble.
