Cult-favourite dessert chain Yo-Chi is turning sustainability into a seriously sweet deal, offering Aussies a free frozen yoghurt moment this Wednesday 25 March. To celebrate, customers who simply refill their drink bottle in-store will score a Buy One Get One Free froyo — no purchase required for the water itself. The one-day initiative, timed around World Water Day, encourages customers to ditch single-use plastic and embrace reusable bottles.
The campaign builds on Yo-Chi’s bold 2022 decision to remove bottled water entirely from all 69 stores nationwide, replacing it with free still and sparkling refill taps accessible to everyone — even non-customers. While bottled water is typically one of hospitality’s biggest profit drivers, the brand estimates it is walking away from up to $10 million annually in lost revenue. Co-owner Oliver Allis has made it clear that’s the point: the more people refill, the greater the environmental win.
Partnering with MODA Water, Yo-Chi estimates the initiative now saves around 5.7 million plastic bottles — or more than 100 tonnes of plastic — every year. Beyond reducing waste, the move is helping reshape Yo-Chi stores into welcoming “third spaces” where customers can linger and return. With this latest free froyo offer, the brand is doubling down on its message: small, simple actions like refilling your bottle can make a big difference — and taste pretty good too.
