French skincare is often said to be the best in the world. After all, every girl that visits France has a long list of French beauty buys that they must fit into their suitcase to take home! La Roche-Posay used to be one of those brands we’d hunt down in Paris to buy the must-haves but we’re lucky that we can buy it here in Australia (although to be honest there was a lot of fun in foraging through French pharmacies for their skincare). Their latest skincare gem is the Retinol B3 serum, their first anti-wrinkle dermatological serum with pure Retinol + Vitamin B3 to combat the visible signs of aging as well as improve the complexation by reducing imperfections and dark spots, and giving an overall smoothness to the skin.

What’s in it?

A lot is written about Retinol and there is so much information out there. The thing to note before you try a product with retinol is that it can take some time for your skin to adjust. An active form of Vitamin A, Retinol is found naturally in the skin and is recognised by dermatologists as a powerful molecule to address the signs of aging as it helps to resurface and regenerate cells, resulting in smoother skin. The inclusion of Retinol in the formulation the Retinol B3 serum targets wrinkles and diminish them and promotes a smoother complexion.  Whilst Retinol can often cause side effects including redness and dryness, the addition of Vitamin B3 and hydrating ingredients helps to provide a balance formulation and may also be used for those with sensitive skin.

How I found it?

I have been using the Retinol B3 Serum for almost two months and it has provided a noticeable difference to my complexion and appearance of fine lines. My major skin concern are the fine lines that are beginning to appear on my forehead and this product has really helped to minimise their appearance. My face has an overall brightness and smoothness that has also helped provide a more youthful appearance.

Initially, it took about a week for my skin to get used to the Retinol B3 serum. Like many other actives, your skin will take some time to get used to it and you may experience some redness, dryness and some skin tingling. Be patient and don’t shy away from using it as it does wonders for your skin. I also found that my pigmentation was less noticeable and has made me feel better about my skin without any makeup. Definitely a plus in this day and age.

I use it at night and because the formulation is lightweight so you only need one squirt from the dropper to give good coverage for your face and neck. I followed it with La Roche Posay’s Toleraine Nuit cream to lock in the moisture and let the Retinol do its job

Finally, I think that this is a great product not only because it is effective, but also because it is affordable. Unlike many other actives on the market, the retail price of $69.95 is affordable and with  the reputation of La Roche-Posay focus on dermatological research, you know you’re onto a good thing.
