As Melbourne settles into the cooler months, Bar Lourinhã is embracing winter with a season-long celebration marking its 20th anniversary. The beloved CBD dining destination, led by Executive Chef and Co-Owner Matt McConnell, has been a cornerstone of the city’s food scene since 2006, bringing the flavours of Portugal, Spain and the Mediterranean coastline to Melbourne diners. To honour the milestone, the iconic venue has unveiled a calendar of special events and weekly offers designed to capture the warmth, conviviality and vibrant spirit that have defined Bar Lourinhã for two decades.

A standout event on the winter program is Winter in Rioja, Spain on 11 June, a cosy Long Table Dinner celebrating one of Spain’s most renowned wine regions. Guests can expect a menu of regionally inspired dishes paired with a thoughtfully curated wine selection by The Spanish Acquisition, showcasing the bold and elegant flavours of Rioja. Later in the season, the venue will host Sunday Soiree on 28 June, a free live music evening featuring Latin favourites from The Bandidos, alongside Iberian and Mediterranean dishes, while Presenté Tutti Chic! on 27 July will bring an Italian wine takeover by Foreign Fruits, $16 glasses of wine, share-style plates and disco classics courtesy of DJ JT Beat Lab.

Alongside the one-off celebrations, Bar Lourinhã is introducing a series of recurring winter experiences. Every Sunday from 1pm, guests can enjoy freshly cooked paella served straight from the bar, available for $35 or paired with a refreshing Tinto Verano cocktail for $45. Mondays are equally enticing with BYO Mondays, offering diners the chance to bring a favourite bottle from home and enjoy it with the restaurant’s Iberian-Mediterranean menu for a $25 corkage fee. Whether visiting for a special event or a relaxed weekend feast, Bar Lourinhã’s anniversary program offers plenty of reasons to gather, dine and toast to 20 years of exceptional hospitality.
